Question about Sony CDX-MP40 CD Player

Sony CDX-MP40 only works after hitting reset button

I just purchased a used car already equipped with the cdx-mp40. The only way I can get the cd player to function though is to hit the reset button after my car is started. In other words, I get in my car, turn it on, put the faceplate on and nothing happens. But when I get in, turn on the car, hit the reset button, put the faceplate on everything works normal. Any ideas? I hate having to reset the cd player each time and I'd like to keep the stations that are already programmed in my cd players memory.

Sounds like the radio is wired up wrong.

Click ->LINK<- this is the installation guide.

Pull the unit and check the wiring, take special note of the yellow and red wires. Yellow MUST go to a permanent live.

Philip

Can the illumination colour be changed on the cdx mp40

You will need an expert technician to open the unit, they are small bulbs with covered color lenses, usually small plastic caps. the simplies is to remove this caps and mark it with colored felt tips marker

My tracks don't play in the recorded order, list I made them.....

If song tracks jump or skip then it is problem of cd player like optical laser is dirty / clogged,
and if track doesn't jump or restarts in middle of playing back then cd player is just fine,
Please check cd creator software settings.

Linking an i pod to a Sony CDX-MP40 using the bus input terminal

Some Sony head units let you use the Bus audio inputs as an auxiliary source input, but yours is not among them. To play your iPod through the head unit, you'll either need an iPod interface module: http://www.xplodsony.com/xplod/accessories/XA-110IP or an auxiliary input module: http://www.xplodsony.com/xplod/accessories/XA-300 The iPod interface will allow you to control and display the iPod directly through the head unit, while an auxiliary input adapter will allow the iPod to play through the head unit using the iPod's controls and display.

Sounds like a jammed micro-switch, open it up and check for dirt in the loading mech.

You are correct, the unit powers entirely from the red and yellow leads. Your symptoms sound like a unit that isn't getting power on the red (switched) lead. The most likely cause is a blown fuse in your vehicle's fuse box.

Sony CDX-MP40 won't power up the amp.

Most in-dash stereos have a blue wire in the harness which is used as a "wake up" signal for external amps. Did you connect this? Does it have any voltage on it when the stereo is on?

Can't get CDX-MP40 to work...

You can get a manual here http://esupport.sony.com/perl/select-system.pl?DIRECTOR=DOCS Your unit sounds like its dead. Try unplugging it for a day or overnight. if that dosent work your going to need to take the unit into the repair center. Good Luck
