Water has started pouring out from under my Whirlpool Duet washer during the rinse cycle. It isn't leaking from the door, it's all from UNDER the machine. It is a LOT of water, like the entire drum is draining onto the floor. How do I determine where the problem is originating? How do you access the unit without tipping the tub?
The drain pump may be leaking or the tub hose is broken. Disconnect power to the washer before doing any inspection or repair to avoid electric shock.
Remove the three screws securing the lower front access panel to the cabinet then pull the panel down, and then out of the cabinet.
The drain pump assembly can now be accessed. Add water to the tub then inspect the tub, tub hose, and the drain pump assembly to determine the source of the leak. Most likely it is the pump leaking.
Replace the drain pump assembly (part #8181684) if it is leaking. Open the door covering the wiring harness connector and disconnect the wires from the terminals of the pump motor. Remove the screw securing the pump assembly to the frame of the washer then compress the spring clamps attaching the hoses to the pump assembly. Move the clamps away from the pump then detach the hoses from the pump assembly.
Attach and secure the hoses to the new drain pump assembly then secure the pump back into position to the frame of the washer. Reconnect the wires to the pump motor terminals and close the covering door.
Slide the lower front access panel up back into the cabinet and secure it the three screws.
Let us know if the leak comes from a different source other than the ones mentioned above.
Hello, you've indicated this problem only arrises during the rinse cycle, is that correct ? The leak doesn't occur during the wash cycle initial fill level ? I want to distinguish the difference because there has been a repair tip issued by whirlpool for the duet and sport washer's. This may be applicable to your machine. If it is indeed only during the rinse, the problem is within the door assembly. Specifically the glass and it's "seat" to the frame. Let me know, I'll watch for your reply. macmarkus :)
