Question about PC Desktops
I would like to add Ram to Acer E380. At the time I have 2x512 mb DDR2 I purchased and would like to add another 2gb. As soon as I install additional 1x2gb pc5300 it started to reboot and freeze my computer. At the time I run Vista but would like to update to Windows 7. Is there any special way to install memory. I have four slots They are diffrent colors. Does it change anything?

You need to find out what type of ram,and amount your motherboard takes (sd,ddr,ddr2,sod) and how many ram slots it has, the user manual of the mobo will tell you this information.if you dont have the manual search the net for it.
it is very easy physically on a desktop, you just push them in the slot ,taking note of the notches on the ram sticks, ensuring they lock down correctly,
note if you are using ddr2 you need to install in pairs to obtain the full speed of the ram, things can be a little more tricky on laptops as some are easy to get at, and others you need to remove the cover of the entire laptop.
