Question about Kitchen Ranges

2 Answers

I have a Jenn-Air counter top (down draft) gas range. I just noticed that one of my burners would not turn on. The stem appeared to be frozen. However, I was able to get it to turn a couple of times, but it did not turn easily. I didn't want to force it, but I can't seem to get it to turn at all now.

It's the left rear on the grill side. It appears that all of the burner valves work the same way.

The burner lights when I can get the stem to turn. The problem is I can't get the stem to turn.

The 'stem' as you say, is most likely gunked up with grease, etc. you can either try to clean it out with long swabs(only partially effective) or you 'll need to replace that whole assembly.

thanks for the vote...you might want to consider cleaning all of them, at the same time..be careful not to soak them or immerse them under water.

Have you done some double check of the unit or have you investigate or monitor it by yourself, which you have noticed aside from the 1 burner doesn't ignite.

Any other info.aside from the fact.

It's your better option to replaced the gas igniter, it's to risky if you self service or fabricate anything just to make the burners fire-up. Possibly may cause such danger.

Can you provide me the model and type of the unit, i,m kinda specify which i would start to trace solutions.

If the front left also does not light normally, my best guess would be that the wires for the front left and right rear are crossed and the insulation may have fried. Besides that possibility, I have no clue.

How can a Jenn-Air down draft stove be vented out the roof ?

Yes , its much more labor intense but it can be done by venting it up through the wall then through the attic over to the side vents. Make sure to get flexable duct to pull up through the wall.

Igniter of back burner dies not click or light

I had the same issue with washing the top with water and cleaning solution. I had arching, eventually one burner failed to ignite. I tried the above solution and it did not work. Remove the ceramic top on the burner that will not ignite. Turn on another working element. Do you see the igniter working?

If so slowly turn on the gas on the failed burner and it will ignite. I'm looking into what component automatically controls the igniting and gas release when the knob is turned on.

Burner controls

if you remove the knobs from the unit nad look closely doen the shaft of the protruding valve stem you should be able to see a slot for a regular screwdriver to fit down, its gonna have to be long adn thin but that is the flame adjustment screw,
put the flame down to low and use a pair of pliers to hold the valve stem from turning as you try to adjust the screw, turn it very slowly you seel an adjustment happen (dont really know if its counter clockwise or clockwise, but youll figure it out playin gwith it for a bit, just remember to hold the shaft from turnig, and although your turninf the valve down to simmer it does not afffect the high setting

Older 6 burner wolf commercial range ignition problem.

If it were the gas regulator, existing flames would go down as more burners are turned on.

There are set screws on the pilot fittings that come out of the manifold, you could try turning those Counter-clockwise to turn the pilots up. (Don't loosen them all the way, they will fall out!) If that doesn't work chances are the pilot stems will have to be replaced to get a higher pilot flame.

it appears that the air intake intake is incorrectly set or you have the incorrect gas jets fitted to the product. Regards Engineer
