Question about IBM ThinkPad T20 2647 Notebook

2 Answers

IBM T20 Can someone please tell me how to unlock the calculator function on this unit. When I try to type a letter key, I keep getting the numbers that are associated with that key instead of any of the letters. I have no idea how to unlock it, even though I've tried every combination that I can think of. Thank you very much. Laponte20@hotmail.com

I held the FN key down while pressing the Num Lk key, but that wasn't the solution. It still types the numbers. Still need help. Thanks

Press the function key (aka) fn down the bottom and the num lock key on the top right of your key board.

You need to press the NUM Lock key.
The NUM lock key is usually the same key as the ScrLk key but to select the NUM lock you need to press and hold down the Shift key and then press the NumLk/ScrLk key. A LED light will light up to indicate the number keypad is on.

Hold down the Function Key and the F11 key at the same time. That should reset your keyboard to the letter.

The IBM laptop has a key on the top row on the right side.It has two functions. One function is the scroll lock on the bottom of the key.The other function is the numbers lock which is at the top of the key.To unlock the right side of the keyboard when numbers are coming up instead of letters, hold down the shift key and the numbers lock key and that will unlock it.

You're kind of vague on your problem. If it's the smaller blue numbers for the calculator, you will need to use the function (fn) key. Hold the fn key and press the key the reads number lock (num lock), this should return the keys back to letters. You can find more info on the fn key and numbers lock under help in the start menu. If this isn't your problem, be more specific, and I'll be more than happy to help.

Turn off notebook. When turning back on, press the ESC key to bring up "setup" mode. One of the setup menus should allow you to select NUM LOCK function. You want to "de-select" the function.

Would these be keys that can also be used to enter numbers? do they have numbers on them as well as letters ?
If so I'm thinking that there is some sort of Num. Lock activated (perhaps via an FN key ?)
Can you tell us more about the laptop, make and model ?
