When swiched on, the screen displays green vertical bands which almost obscure the picture. By switching off and then back on, the green bands disappear but the vertical edges on the image are very unstable. After about 10 minutes, the picture stabilises and is fine until the next time it is switched on from cold. Any ideas?

Most likely a power supply component has aged and thus changed value and/or failed. Take it to a reputable repair person.

I have evenly spaced, rows of two vertical green and red lines from top to bottom of my vizio plasma P50HDTV10A

Somehow when switching between the tv and the dvd my wife encountered the pink and green, thin, parallel, vertical lines on the screen. The picture was visible with the lines. I turned the tv off and on but the problem persisted. Unplugged tv for about two minutes and after plugging it back in and turning it on the vertical lines very gone and the picture was back to normal.
