What I would do is reset the ipod by hold down the menu and select buttons for at least 10 seconds, you will then get the apple logo come up. You may need to try several times. If it doesn't get back to me.

Try powering the Ipod down and waiting about 20 seconds, then power it back up. It is always a good idea to power devices down every month to get updates and if changes are made they may not take effect unless the device is powered down and powered back up again.
This means there's some kind of problem with the iPod. It might be solved by resetting or restoring your iPod. Otherwise, you'll probably need to take the iPod into an Apple store to see what's wrong.
Here's how to reset your iPod:
Turn on the iPod, and make sure it's unlocked (no red is showing by the switch at the top)

slide hold switch on and off a couple of times and when hold is in off position press and hold menu and centre buttons till a silver apple logo appears.the connect to itunes and perform an upgrade or restore from under the summary tab.
allright i have the same problem and i know how to get it to discharge, reset it then right when you see the apple logo hold previous and center. then it will take you to the whole systems analysis ******** that they do when you send it in, just go auto test and DONT continue, it wont auto shut off cause of the mode its in. thats what im doing right now.
