I don't see why i have to pay 9.99 for your service just to return defective merchandise. i guess i will stop using magnavox and let everyone know you are not helpful with your product.

I have a Sanyo TV Model # DP26640. I have a Magnavox DVD Player model # DV2100. i am unable to play discs I make on my computer on the TV HELP!

If you can play original CDs then the problem is in neither the TV nor the DVD player , but in your DVD authoring software or your skills to use it (no offense meant).

Overall I seriously doubt the TV make and model is relevant here.

Depending on what exactly are you burning and how are you burning it the DVD player may be important as it may have certain limitations, e.g. codec formats supported or media types supported (e.g. DVD-R vs DVD+R etc.)

Hi there,

According to the Philips website the following has been listed for your Philips SRU2103/27 remote control.

If you have a Magnavox DVD player one of the following codes should work:

0441, 0442, 0447, 0599, 0799, 0699, 0247, 0193, 0093, 0598

If you have a Magnavox DVD recorder + rw then one of the following codes should work:

0599, 0699

Magnavox H2160MW9A gets E19 and E21 messages burning DVDs

If you have a timer recording scheduled, the "A" version has a software problem when trying to finalize disks. I would return the unit if it is under warranty, especially if it is under warranty.
If it is not, you have several options. Open the unit and make sure that the ribbon connectors are seated firmly. Purchase a replacement DVD writer from Magnavox and install it yourself for about $70. Return it to Magnavox for repair. Get it repaired locally.
I have had excellent luck with the Sony DVD+RW disks that are made in Taiwan. You might want to check the package and determine if they are from Taiwan or elsewhere. If you have a PC that has a DVD writer, check the problem DVD's in the PC.
I think it is your Magnavox, sorry to say.

Magnavox SUCKS

Lesson well learned - stay away from Magnavox - they do **** indeed. The problem is that the optical drives used in DVD recorders are of very bad quality and have very outdated firmware that never gets updated like the drives used on your computer - some of these recorders are quite fussy about the brand of media used - which is why there should be an area in your manual with recommended and tested media.

Have you tried using Taiyo Yuden or Vebatim discs ? Most recorders like those - Use 8x and make sure your drive supports the type of disc you are using - some drives support only DVD-R, others DVD+R and DVD-R, etc.

if your magnavox is refusing to use all media you throw at it, it is time to throw that piece of junk - Personally I would have returned the item if I had problems since day 1 and asked for my money back. Indeed their customer support is horrible, they know **** all about technical stuff anyway and will always blame the customers.

Do yourself a favor and get a decent recorder from Sony or Pioneer, with a hard drive.

There is nothing much you can do I'm sorry, there is no firmware you can update so you are stuck with this problem unless you find the magic brand that this drive likes.

Avoid generic or unknown brands, see how it can handle Maxell, TDK, Verbatim or Sony discs.

Best of luck.

Can't hear sound on Windows Mediaplayer from DVD I recorded

I've been pondering this one for a day or so - at least two possibilities:
1) There is a mute/audio-off hotbutton inside Windows Media Player itself - click on it and see if the audio works. Alternatively, you can try playing a music file in Windows Media Player to see if THAT file has sound.
2) You need a better Codec - the free version of the K-Lite Codec has limited audio support. There are no easy answers to this problem. I frequently use my computer for converting VHS's to DVD, so I finally plunked down the $50 to purchase Nero 9 and all of its codecs. Before that, however, I used VLC Media Player (free) - it has DVD/VOB audio support.

As a side note, if you wanted to use your computer to convert the VHS's to DVD, you would need a plain-old VCR, a red/white/yellow cable, a DVD burner, and a product called the Dazzle DVD Recorder from Pinnacle. You can hook the VCR straight to your computer and burn away. To get the best experience however, I would also get a program like Nero, Roxio, etc. to do the actual DVD burning (although the Dazzle's native software is perfectly capable of doing the job).

Good luck!
