Question about Toshiba Satellite 5105-S501 Notebook

1 Answer

Toshiba laptop I've got my suspicion but wanted to get a second opinion or a few... This toshiba satellite has a flashing orange battery light... It boots fine in a/c mode but as soon as you unplug it, it shuts off immediately.  The battery indicator shows almost a full battery.   My suspicion is the motherboard, I was going to try a CMOS battery and cable check before taking the laptop apart. thanks bob

Good notion...that flashing orange suggests that even though your battery shows good, the mo' board, is not agreeing..

good luck on that..

Remove battery. Maybe faulty? Try another cord/charger with the EXACT same specs. Reseat the Memory Mods. has the AC jack been damaged by pulling on the cord? Try plug in and at the laptop's AC jack "wiggle" the AC jack plug. Any change?

My toshiba satellelite computer's second indicator is always in orange colour.it is like that in the shut down mode also.why

The lights are indicators of power on or charging the battery or Internet connection activated. More than likely your battery is charging that is why when you shut it down the battery indicator lite may be on showing you that there is a charge going on. Check your manual for what each indicator light shows you.

If it does the same thing w/ the battery removed and just on AC, it's a power regulator problem on the motherboard. If it works with the battery out, the battery is dead and you need a new one.

When i plug my charger in to my satalite L655 and turn it on. An orange light flashes.

Hello, stoneyless
The orange flashing you are referring to means that your battery is currently out of power. I would recommend trying a friends laptop charger (same brand and model) to rule out the charger, if you know the borrowed charger is in working condition and your pc still doesn't power on then you may blame the battery. From that point i would send it in Toshiba for a replacement battery AND charger (if still under warrenty). if warrenty is no longer viable you would have no choice but to find a suitable replacement for either the charger or battery. OR you can buy the same Laptop and take out the battery and laptop cable and return the laptop with the faulty equipment.

Nothing! Yellow light indicates a depleated battery. My guess is the battery is shot! The laptop is still working and the yellow flashing light has no affect on the usability. Buy a battery if you want it to stop! They are real expensive and may not be worth doing. Keep using the laptop as is.

Toshiba Satellite: A135-S4427 / Won't shut down

Hi,
by pressing the power button in, the computer has gone into standby or hibernate mode.
Heres what you Do:- press and hold the power button for between 10 to 20 seconds.
that should bring it out of hibernation.
if that does,nt work. remove the main battery.
when you,ve resolved the problem, run a disk-scan via your windows operating system.
