I have an OEM version Soundiver editing software for my Roland JV1010 synth but it is an elderly version and does not always 'shake hands' with the Roland. I have downloaded an update for Soundiver but when I click on setup I get a dialogue box which says 'cannot find installed version of Soundiver'. Anybody out there know why? Is it because it is OEM? Anybody got a full version of Soundiver - either a free download or for sale (if not too expensive? PHC email me at [email protected] if you can help, please.

Contact Roland directly. Speak to their customer service department in your country. I beleive this is the info- http://www.dealerlocations.in/roland-dealers-in-kolkata
If it's just a parts availablitiy problem, remember that Roland is a world wide company. Contact Roland in other markets, starting close to you and expanding out. Somebody will have it. I'm in the USA and often source parts from Canada, for instance.
If the instrument is truely dead, you can always sell it for parts to other users. Ebay would be a good option.
A Gk3 cannot be connected directly to an electric piano or synthesiser. The 23 pin DIN connector connects the GK3 / GUITAR to a Roland guitar synthesiser which produces the synth tones . This unit can be connected via midi cable to any external keyboard or synthesiser...to produce different or varied tones from the external synth ........provided the devices are able to communicate with each other...see the midi implementation charts for each device for information....
You cannot connect a Gk3 directly to an electric piano or synth. What you have to do is connect the 13 pin DIN connecting cable from the gk3 to the input on a Roland guitar synth unit like GR 20 or the GR 55 which supplies the desired instrument tones as required. The synth can be connected via 5 pin midi cable to an external synth to provide further tones...I personally have never used a keyboard to provide extra tones because I am a guitarist so only used synth modules and not keyboard ....remember also you need an amp or pa system to hear the sound output from the guitar synth module or external module.
Please note that ROLAND equipment USUALLY uses Normally closed (electrically) damper pedals for their equipment. Most other brands use normally open ones. If you are using a non-Roland pedal, that is likely the problem.
SOME PEDALS require opening and changing a wire (involves soldering) to match the unit you are plugging into. A very few have a switch on them to allow changing polarity.
A few synths, like the Yamaha Tyros have a built in setup screen where one can select the polarity of the attached pedals.
