Hi. I have a dell c600 and the keyboard and touchpad are not responding when I boot to windows. When I go to BIOS set-up the keyboards work fine.

Plug in a usb keyboard and mouse. Reinstall your keyboard and mouse drivers through the device manager. Let me know if you need help with it.

Some keys on my Dell D610 have swapped their functionality when the shift key is pressed - @ and " in particular. Can I swap them back?

Go into Control Panel, Regional and Language Options, Languages Tab, Details Button, Change Default Input Language to English - US, and remove any Keyboards listed that are not English US. Most likely you have set a French Input as a default. Once chnages are made, log out of Windows and log back in.

Some keys on my old dell latitude c600 are not working

it happens, even i have DELL 610 notebook that has some keys not working, the only option is to change the keyboad layout.....
in India all parts can be replaced/repaired but abroad is a different story....the reparing cost is equal to the new....just trash the laptop once it's life is thru....

Help!

Remove the keyboard:

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/latd800/sm_en/keyboard.htm

Reseat all connections and then restart -- see if that solves the problem, if not, connect an external mouse via usb to it -- go to your control panel > system > hardware > device manager, report back with what you see.

Dell laptop c600 key board

Buzzy, Yes you can connect an external keyboard to your PC. Some newer ones no longer have the round, PS2 connector so in that case you?ll need to use a USB keyboard. Please note that if you go the USB route you should start your PC and log in first, and then connect the keyboard. Windows will then load the drivers and you should be good to go. Let us know how it goes and please don?t forget to rate this post.
