My compaq b1255tu motherboard got burnt.can it be repaired or i have to buy a new one.

not sure why you'd want to buy a motherboard for a laptop as it's far better to get a new machine. If you must buy a new motherboard, don't buy 2nd hand cos it won't last long.

Do you still have your Operating System installer like windows? If yes, follow the error's instruction to repair itself. Or if you don't have your installer, buy a new installer and reformat your Compaq Presario

Unless you can identify the part, and the part is available you will have to send the board to
a facility that repairs motherboards, but the cost of repair could easily exceed the cost of a new board

If the part can be identified and is available, your next problem is having the proper equipment...
Without the proper equipment, you can damage the board beyond repair and even with the proper equipment and no experience, same result...

The problem is that a lot of the time when a power supply goes it takes the motherboard with it. If your lucky your motherboard is still good. You can purchase a new power supply fairly cheap depending on what you want. The only way to know if you motherboard is still good you can have it checked at a repair shop, or get a new power supply and see if it works, the choice is yours.

It's probably bricked/blocked/burnt out. Almost impossible to repair a damaged motherboard so you'll have to buy a new one.

Looks like a bad motherboard ,have you tried another power adapter the one that connects to the wall socket.
The motherboard could cost over $100 ,chepaer on Ebay or you could take it to a Compaq/HP service center and ask for a quote on the repair.

HP/Compaq motherboards are system specific rather than industry standard. The only way to obtain a new motherboard is to contact HP/Compaq or an authorized HP/Compaq repair center. If you are interested in a used board you can check places like ebay and see if anyone has the board for your system available. Hope this helps.

i dont really say if your mboard will get a damaged..try to change your power plug..if it still not working, you have to open your laptop, so you can find or know if there's some thing wrong...maybe you should have to buy a new one instead of replacing it..coz, if some parts of the motherboard also have damaged, its very hard to fix.. the parts are very small and delicate to fix it..thanks..

please check whether there is burning in the motherboard due to this there is no switching in the motherboard. plz get the motherboard repaired. their is no problem in replacing the 20-pin psu
