this is tricky there are 2 stand things right and left of the plane in front you have to jump on to the top of the stand then you can start the plane with the whip.
We tried other games in the wii conssole and they worked, so we thought it may of been the game itself so we return it to shop. They changed it said it may have a small scratch some where so they replaced the game, the new one works fine now.
The thing to get the two Wiimotes to work is to press the reset button on the Wii and on all the Wiimotes at the ame time. If you after that restart the Wii, it should automatically connect to both Wiimotes when you press A on them.
If you then luanch the game, the two Wiimotes should still be connected. If not, just press A again. Then press whatever button you ned for multiplayer (+ I believe) and you shold now have 2 players.
