Question about Canon MV800i Mini DV Digital Camcorder

Cassette Compartment on my Canon MV800i will not close to play tape

The cassette compartment will not close to play when a recorded cassette is inserted (though it will close automatically when no cassette is in place). The battery is fully charged. The camera first emits a beep, then finally ejects the tape.I have tried other cassettes, but the problem remains irrespective of the cassette used.

Why won't the door shut on my cassette player shut with a cassette in itwhy can't i get an answer to my question

I'm sorry, but it seems you may have a product that no one has any experience with.

But just to help in any way I can I will suggest reading your operational manual to make sure your inserting the tape correctly.

Or maybe your tape has reach the end of the roll and is automatically ejecting it?
Check that all other applicable settings are correct for insertion of a cassette tape.
Does your device allow a "recorded tape" to be played? Or does it only accept "recordable tapes" to be recorded? I do recall that cassettes have a way of being identified by a player as to whether or not it is a "recordable" or a "non-recordable" tape.
I probably wasn't the best help you could have got here on fixya, but I have exhausted my advise to you, as general as it may be.
If my advise wasn't the solution, please be patient or reword your question to attract the experts in the field of cassette recorders or music recording equipment. Different headings will be directed to the answering panels that are associated with answering those type of questions.

Good luck

How to record a program you are watching on your cable satellite receiver.

Hello,

Most of the time we watch TV programs with our cable satellite receiver/decoder. And sometimes we would love to record these programs so that we can watch them again. You can learn how to record your TV program while you watching a TV program.

All you will be needing is a DVD recorder or VCR (Video cassette Recorder). It all depends on the one you prefer.

There are two methods of doing this connection. 1. is RF connection and the other is RCA. But I will start with the RF connection method;

This is how is works. Get a RF cord, check the back of your TV, you would see RF in, connect the RF into TV in, then connect the other part to RF Out at the back of the Cassette or DVD Recorder.

Turn the Cassette or DVD Recorder and the TV on. Go to Channel 1 or any channel on the TV, search the TV stations automatically or manually in order to get a display of the Cassette or DVD Recorder on the TV. To easily get the Cassette or DVD Recorder's station, play a movie on the Cassette or DVD Recorder while you search for the station. Once you see the display of the movie on your TV, you would easily know that that's the Cassette or DVD Recorder station.

Once you have gotten a display from the Cassette or DVD Recorder, save the channel on the TV.

Then get another RF cord, connect it to "RF out" at the back of the Satellite/cable decoder/receiver and the other part to "RF in" at the back of the Cassette or DVD Recorder.

Now with the Satellite/cable decoder/receiver turned on and the Cassette or DVD Recorder also turned on, press the Cassette or DVD Recorder's channel, you should find search. Scan for channel/stations on the Cassette or DVD Recorder just like you did on the TV and you will find a display of the Satellite/cable decoder/receiver showing on the TV via the Cassette or DVD Recorder. Note that on some Cassette or DVD Recorder, you will have to select "Source" to RF before you can get a display of the channel.

Now since the Satellite/cable decoder/receiver program is now showing via the Satellite/cable decoder/receiver, insert a black disc or cassette into the Recoder and press record. The Satellite/cable decoder/receiver programs showing on the TV via the player will be recorded and that would be all.

For some recorders that has internal hard drive, you can just press record without inserting a blank disc......

USING RCA CONNECTION METHOD.

You could also achieve this by using a RCA (yellow, red and white cord).

The connection procedure is the same with the RF explained above.

Connect the Recorder to the TV. That is, from "Video and audio Out" of the recorder to "video and audio in" of the TV accordingly. Press AV or source on the TV to confirm that there is a display from the recorder on the TV.

Now connect the RCA cord to "OUT" from the Satellite/cable decoder/receiver to "IN" at the back of the Recorder.

Then, press source on the recorder to "INPUT" (RCA) and the Satellite/cable decoder/receiver's program will automatically display on the TV.

While the Program is being displayed on the TV via the recoder, insert a blank disc and press record on the player and it will automatically start recording. You will see the record or record symbol while the recoding is in progress.

I hope you understand the above. Please follow steps closely and you won't have any problems.

Good luck.

1990 lexus ls400 cassette player will not read or play my cassetes. i put in my cassettes but my front tape flap doesn't close and it automatically switches back to the radio.

The player has to seize the cassette as it is inserted and seat it in the correct position to be played. Sometimes the manual eject linkage becomes defective or misadjusted, preventing the cassette from seating correctly. The eject button may depress fully without causing ejection or it may depress but not cause ejection.

Sony dcr-trv350 tape wont close

there is a risk of hardware damage.make sure you dont force the tape into the cassette compartment to avoid damage to the unit or tape.here's what you can do.
1.remove the tape from the compartment.
2.ensure proper type and size of tape is used.
3.ensure no packaging material or foreign material inside the compartment.
4.if attempting to record, make sure cassette tape rec/save switch is set to rec position.
5.reinsert the tape, make sure it's properly inserted.
6.if still won't close or tape ejected again, remove tape.
7.reinsert a diff tape.
8.attempt to close compartment.
9.if issue unresolved, press the tiny reset button while cam is powered on (located in the panel where the lcd screen goes to,just below all the other buttons). you may also do a power reset procedure: remove batt, remove ac adaptor, set power switch to vcr, leave the cam without power for at least a minute, switch power back to off, reinsert ac adaptor/batt and turn cam on, attempt to close tape compartment.

if issue persists, service would be needed. hope this helps.thanks:)

Bands or lines on screen during playback

Hi tlaufer ,
According to the symptom this problem is related to the VIDEO HEAD, As you earlier try to clean the head but no results, Please open the cassette compartment of your camera (as when you insert the cassette in it) for 30 mins (remains open cassette compartment) Actueally some time due to moisture head get durt.
After 30 mins insert the cassette and play it. Hope it will start work again fine.
But if no result from the said procedure then there must be a damadge of point of the head, in this condition you have to replace the VIDEO HEAD assembly.
Thanks for using fixya.
