Question about Maytag MMV5000 Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Exhaust fan I have the MMV5000 and am wondering if the exhaust can be routed through the vent tube from the previous microwave to allow it to vent through the tube and out of the house vs. venting in front right back into the kitchen. It came w/ the house set up as is and I would like to check on this before trying to take it apart. Any thoughts? Thanks so much

In wall oven vent fan not working

To my knowledge the switches are not restable. There is a thermal switch that closes and runs the exhaust fan when the microwave becomes too hot.

When Exhaust button pressed, vent fans not working, but microwave running for 30 seconds.

test the components and fix it. God bless you

  1. Exhaust fan motorIf your exhaust fan motor is not running, there are a couple of things that you can check involving the motor to locate the problem. After removing the fan motor, you can manually attempt to turn the fan blades with your hand. If the fan motor is working properly, the blades should spin effortlessly. If this does not occur and the blades are taught, the motor will need to be replaced. Secondly, the fan motor itself can burn out due to time and usage. Using an ohm meter, the exhaust fan motor should read open for continuity. If it does not, then the fan motor has expired and will need to be replaced.
  2. ThermostatAnother part that could cause the microwave exhaust fan to not work is a faulty thermostat. A thermostat gauges the air temperature, which activates the exhaust fan when required. If this part becomes flawed, the exhaust fan will not energize and the thermostat will need to be replaced.
  3. Main control boardIf your exhaust fan is still not working and the microwave fan motor, wiring, and thermostat are operating accurately, the root cause could be with the main control board. Replace the main control board.

Frigidaire gallery otr microwave vent not working

Hello Lori Wilson - Thanks for your post! Generally speaking, the vent is not very strong. Try to place a single paper towel on the underside of the microwave. With the vent on, it should suction the paper towel to the bottom of the microwave. If not, I personally recommend contacting the installer to verify that the vent fan is installed properly and the exhaust outer is correct.

You can usually recongure the outlet on the vent to just vent into the room, but if you aren't going to use it,not an issue.

Oven is installed not outside vented. There is

It could be that the filter elements are clogged and need to be cleaned. Remove then from the underside of the micro hood and clean them using a good quality cleaner, such as Simple Green. Clean and allow to air dry before reinstalling.

While the filter elements are out, you can check for obstructions and run the fan to see if it is better without the filters installed.

If there is no noticeable increase in the air flow, it is possible that the exhaust vent baffle was not installed correctly, when the mircrowave was first installed.

Hope you found this Very Helpful and best regards!

In all my years, I've never heard of this. You would not want the grease and steam to go into the works. Can you give some more specific detail on what those others have told you?
