Question about Computers & Internet
I purchased it in August of 2007 and had it set up with a SSID name and Web 10 digit incription code. This morning March 8th 2008 I went to get on the internet and the router was dead. All I have is a green power light and nothing else. I have reset it several times hoping to get it to work and had not luck at all. I tried to reset to factory default and as far as I can tell nothing has resest. Any Suggestions?
Sorry to bring the bad news to you but your router is dead. This is a common problem with this router, it even has its own name: The Green Ring of Death (GROD) referring to the green round power light that stays on. You can actually restore the wired capabilities, but your wirelessbit is kaput. Go to http://www.imovedtolinux.com/2008/11/fix-for-netgear-wnr854t-green-ring-of.html to see how to fix your brivked router.

After doing a reset on the router, check ip address of your pc. If pc is getting 192.168.x.x, that means that the dhcp server of the router is still functioning.
You can do a FIRMWARE UPGRADE ON YOUR ROUTER.
You can contact Netgear tech support so they can look at this also.
