i got the same problem with my ym 11 too.. but honestly looks like its ym problem that it may just work whenever it want to.. :( but try this.. open Yahoo Messenger click on "Messenger" (on top), choose "Connection Preferences" select "Connect via Proxy Server" try to log in ..
if it doesn't work put it back to the original settings, same instruction go to YM, click Messenger then Connection Preferences select "Connect directly to the Internet".. this time try to disconnect your internet connection first.. and then with your YM open enter your username & password but dont click "connect" yet.. connect to internet & log in to ym (you should click "connect on ym right after a second you are connected to the internet)

Did you try log in same time on webmessenger or email panel. First thing it will happen if you sign in into yahoo webmessenger or Yahoo email panel, it automatically makes online on panel.In that case it can be happened. otherwise change your password is a must. go here to change it - https://edit.yahoo.com/config/change_pw

try checking if there can security configurations in yahoo messenger., you can find it in preferences. there may be a timeout configuration if no activity is met within 2-4 minute. or maybe there is a problem with your internet connection. because if yahoo messenger have not recieve any incoming internet connections, it automatically logs out. pm me if you still have the problem. are you using the latest YM? why not try downloading the latest YM but before installing it, uninstall some unwanted programs or those that you dont use anymore...free some disk space.
