No, you won't be able to install Win7 x64 on it, because your CPU does not support the 64-bit instruction set. However, you will be able to install the 32-bit Windows 7 versions, and it should run perfectly.
You cannot install this adapter in a Win 7 computer because the drivers are not compatible with Win 7.
So far Belkin haven't updated the drivers for win 7 OS. The latest drivers for this adapter is compatible only with
" Windows 98SE, Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows XP 32-bit, Windows Vista 32-bit "
Click hereto see the belkin compatible drivers in the website.
You can download the drivers directly from the Acer website. You haven't mentioned which operating system you have but there is only support for Windows XP on the website no support for Vista or Win 7. To get to the download page click here . Cheers from Scott and plz dont forget to vote.
go to this site WIN 7 http://www.getdriver.com/notebook/256/acer-aspire-4736-windows-7-drivers-32-bit.html download the drivers for webcam 2736z unzip and runit restart the laptop WIN XP go to http://www.cyberindian.net/2009/04/26/acer-aspire-4736z-notebook-launched/ unzip and run it then restart it
Well, we wont know until you try. In my opinion, your 32/64 bit issues will be solved, but you would still have the normal vista/xp compatibility issues.
But that is to be expected, like when we all upgraded from win98 to XP.
So - I would recommend downgrading to Vista 32 bit, or getting the 64bit software version of the programs you want to use.
Good Luck, and let me know what you did, and how it turned out! :)
Start - Programs - look for Acer Empowering technology Acer E-recovery - choose Restore - choose Apps and Drivers at the bottom of Restore tab (it will say extracting) - once extracted - click Install - click Vista on the left - click Drivers - click Camera or CCD - on the right side of the screen, click a phrase that has something like "Install now", follow on screen instructions.
** Note ** When the My Pictures or Pictures folder gets full, camera will not work - Cut and Paste all pictures in that folder to another folder and restart Orbicam program.
