Sounds terminal. The good thing is that machine would have to be under 12 months old. So it is under warranty. I would advise you to get it repaired under warranty as it would be to expensive otherwise.

This has happened to my Canon MX310. I get a buzzing sound through my computer speakers and the printer only prints about half a dozen pages then stops, starts to beep and displays the word Canon on the LCD display. I am able to get it going for a couple more pages by turning off the printer for about 30 minutes then turing it back on again, but soon the problem will reoccur. I think the printer is dead. Last Canon I will ever own, it;s only about 2 years old and wasn't worked that hard.

MY PRINTER PIXMA MX310 SWITCH DOESNT TURN ON AND THE ALARM SHOWS. thier is no lcd displayed WHAT DOES ITMEAN?

Possible that the power supply is faulty as there can be a link failure to the display, Also it can be a failure of the display drivers, Possible fault in the display sub processor or even the main board.
You need to cross check and confirm with voltage checks on the power, display and main board.

I turn on my canon mx310 and hear a constant clicking noise that lasts for 2 mintues, the alarm button flashes/blinks, and says "scanner error"... what could be causing that? and how can I fix this?

Issue: A grinding noise is heard from the device.
Solution: Press ON/OFF switch to reset the multifunction device

Reset the device when it is not functioning properly. If the device is not functioning properly or to clear memory, reset it.
  1. On the operator panel, press and hold the <ON/OFF> button for one second. (The display will go blank.)

  2. Wait approximately ten seconds and then press the <ON/OFF> button again.

  3. Wait until the device has completed its cycling process before submitting another job request.
ALSO:

Make sure that the protective cover is removed from the FINE cartridge holder.

Alram light

Did you replace the Black ink cartridge or the Color cartridge, or did you replace both?

Facing the front of the Canon Pixma MX310, did you install the Black ink cartridge to the left side, and the Color cartridge to the right side?

Do Not reverse how the ink cartridges go. Do Not install a Black ink cartridge, in the Color cartridge holder.

If the Alarm light came on, check to see if you have an error message in the LCD. (Not trying to insult your intelligence. The LCD is the little rectangular Liquid Crystal Display on your Pixma MX310 Operation Panel, to the left of the numeric buttons)

Do you have the Pixma MX310 On-screen manual?
Start>Hover on All Programs>Canon>Pixma MX310>On-screen manual

Click on the Troubleshooting heading.
If you have an error message code, click on the heading ->
An Error Message is Displayed on the LCD.

Also suggest you click on the heading -> Problems Sending Faxes.

See if the information provided has a solution to your problem.
