back right corner once you pop the top. there should be a little plastic hanger there, if there is not, it may have broken off. the spring attaches there and then there should be a small opening that it feeds down into and attaches to another hanger
The only thing you can do is disconnect all speakers and turn it on if it still says protect your problem is not speaker related. But if it comes on turn it back off and hook up 1 speaker at a time, then turn it on see if its ok.Then hook up 1 more try it again and so on.
WIthout Googling this model, I would say replace the fuse or the power module. Some appliances have fuses that pop to interrupt any power spikes so you might want to open this up look for one that may look like a small glass vial or a flat plastic tooth, much like those used in cars. If it doesn't have one you can try to find the power module and replace it. I suspect this will be very hard to do since getting and installing a replacement part would probably cost as much as buying a newer model. Hope that helps. God bless!
How old is the set? As the player's laser ages it becomes harder for it to read discs. Audio CD's don't have as much data and are formatted differently from DVD's so they are easier to read. This is one possible cause. Hope this helps!
This sounds like a possible power supply issue. I would suggest that you get a schematic, open up the set and look at the power supply section using a multimeter to measure the voltages.from the begining of the power supply plug, to the end of the power supply voltage regulator.
