I downloaded the vista driver from hp site. but when i started the installation when the software required me to plug in the printer ther syetm will say the usb device haa malfunction. since then i have not be able to install the printer
Vista sucks, or your l337 "skills"? Don't blame Microsoft for dodgy 3rd party products ...

I have been successfully using the LaserJet 1018 on Vista for a couple of months now. The one problem that I faced is one that has been reported elsewhere -- the fact that a thick black line was printed along the right side of the page. I ultimately got help on that from HP, with a new printer driver at:

i have just bought HP laser jet 1018 . i have vista on my laptop. I was told only HP printers work on Vistas. But unfortunately, the dc Which came with the Printer says it has 64 bit visat driver for theprinter .on downloading ot give some error. Can some one please fix this .

i have hp laser jet 1018 which was working probably with win xp but when i shifted to win vista, i couldnt install it ....as when i tried to insert the cd and begin the installation it didnt respond even manulally the installation completed ....but with no response from the printer as the usb could not recognize the driver...also i tried to download the driver for vista from hp site... but installtion stopped when it prompted me to plug the printer ...any solution to this problem...

Same as everyone else it seems.
I also downloaded the soft ware from hp website for vista but it required me to plug on to the printe rat that moment for the program to be installed. Please some one tell bill gates thnat VISTA SUCKS. Everybody hates Vista, why is he pushing vista in the market when no one likes it. Iys heavy and it makes all our old hardware incompatible and when you search for a compatible driver it doesnt get installed that easy
