Question about Compaq Armada M700 Notebook

1 Answer

Mouse problem My Armada has a button mouse, no touchpad. Sometimes it works great. Other times it is really hard to move it at all. The button itself is physically difficult to move. The worst problem is when the cursor moves by itself to the top or the bottom of the screen. I have tried using an external mouse when that is happening, but it is the same. I have to move the button with one hand and be ready to hold it in place for the cursor to land on whatever I am trying to access; then I click with my other hand. Needless to say, there is no game playing on my laptop when this is happening. Help. Thanks, M. C.

Can not get my mouse on my laptop to unfreeze?

Depends if you are talking about the touchpad or a mouse you added. If it's the touchpad, you might have pressed the button to deactivate it. It is either near the touchpad itself or on one of the F? keys and you need to press a combination of the Fn key and the F? key with the touchpad icon. If it's a wireless mouse, check your batteries, check the on/off switch under the mouse. Try unplugging the receiver and plugging it into another usb port. Try somebody elses mouse also. If it really doesn't move at all, your laptop might be frozen, you can check this by pressing the windows key on your keyboard and if the start menu appears, it'S not frozen and you need to check your mouse or have your laptop serviced.

Cursor moving text when i type.

it is possible that is true. from time to time, mouse/touchpad cursors will also move on their own while it is calibrating itself... i have fat finger syndrome with those stupid touchpads myself and the same thing happens to me. you should just be able to go into your device manager, right click on the peripheral name, and disable it.

My Dell model is Inspiron 640m. The problem is my touchpad is working beyond my control. Sometimes it don't move and sometimes it hard to moves. The worst is that, it click automatically........ Please...

I would recommend either to have the laptop disassembled & replace the touchpad with a good one, or alternatively disable the touchpad in the Mouse applet in Control Panel & use an external USB mouse.

Might need to take it apart and clean them. Did you spill something in there? Also make sure your mouse properties are set right click speed etc) in Control Panel. Can you double-tap the touchpad to make selections.

HP NX6125 mouse running away

I've had this problem with my Dell laptop before, it sounds like you have a phyiscal problem with your touchpad. I had to disable the touchpad within the mouse settings in control panel and either use my pointing stick or an external mouse.

This should work...

Mouse

I had the same problem with my compaq armada e500. I've been using an external PS/2 mouse for over a year and just now fixed the built-in touchpad buttons. In the mouse settings applet in control panel there is a setting for click speed. In Win 2k there is a little jack-in-the-box test icon. I moved the click speed slider to the slowest setting and my mouse came back like magic. I've searched and found lots of people with this issue, I can't say this is the only solution, but it certainly was easy. Of course, first I downloaded all the original COMPAQ Armada e500 notebookPC touchpad software from http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodNameId=96717&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=96231&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=181

BTW, I appreciate the workarounds offered by posters here and on other tech support sites, but when someone wants to fix something, it doesn't help to say, "Oh, just give it up and spend money to get around the problem."

If you are still out there, dave, Instead of a USB hub, may I suggest (if you have the resources) picking up a PCMCIA card with at least two more USB ports? They are less than $100 and it really saved my neck when my onboard USB died. Don't be offended, but just in case you haven't noticed you have them, the slots are on the right side of your E500, just to the left of the headset and mic ports. The e500 has two slots and the cards come in different sizes for different laptops, but ours is (luckily) pretty standard. I bought my card at BestBuy.

"sticky" mouse on compaq laptop

Unless your left mouse button has been severely damaged, it is unlikely that a loose button is the cause of your problem. More likely, it is your touchpad. Chances are your touchpad is set to click when tapped. Oversensitive touchpads can click randomly when you're dragging your finger across the touchpad.

To test this, position your cursor over a link (or other button) but don't press the left mouse button. Instead, lightly tap the touchpad itself. If the link or button is clicked, go to your Control Panel and adjust the Mouse options so your touchpad no longer clicks when tapped. It's usually a setting titled "tap to click" or something along those lines.

Javabytes
