HP Compaq Presario SR1265CL-B PC Desktop

I powered the unit down; when I tried to powered it up the only reaction is a green led flashing. The led is located in the back close to the receptacle where the 120 VAC are connected. The led is part of the power supply box.

The led may be something like a power or function check. The led is flasing color green. No fan goes on or any other sign of life. I disconnected all borads attached t0o the mother board as well as each fun and every load from the power cables.

Not understanding your question ..need more info .. is the computer not booting ? Is it flashing red, green, orange? need more info

Posted on Mar 08, 2008

I have a dell dimension 4700C. When I turn on the power, all I get is a flashing amber light. The computer does not boot up. If I leave the computer unplugged for about 5 minutes, Ithen plugged back in, I can hear the power supply kick in for about 2 second, then it stop. I then get a flash amber light. Any idea or recommendation?

Just got a Dell 4700c from a client with the same problem. The power supply has gone bad. I checked it with my power supply tester which said it was bad. I then hooked up a working power supply and the computer fired right up. The sucky thing about it is it's not a standard power supply. A regular power supply will not fit. While searching the internet, I find these little buggers cost about $100 and be sure you find one that has a SATA power cable, although you might be able to use an adapter, the fit is so tight and the drive is mounted right next to hinge on the case, it might not close correctly.

Flashing amber light

Hi, on most Dells a flashing amber light on the power button indicates a problem with the PSU or a short on the main power rail, if this is the case you should have 2 flashing lights as well, 1 & 3.

Unplugged power supply from wall computer light still flashing

Your concern depends on which light.. if it's the one on the mother board, it is normal for it to flash for a while after unplugged. The capacitors in the power supply store power for a while. If that is the case, the light should stop flashing after a few seconds, certainly before one minute. If the lights that are flashing are next to the network connector (LAN or RG-45) it is normal, it is powered by the network cable, unplug it and it should stop.

Green power light comes on goes off then on again stays solid, moniter says no signal, mouse lights up, and three red lights on key board flash then nothing why?

If the monitor power light is on or flashing, but nothing displays, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor needs replaced.

Green light flashing on back of unit near power cord also green light flashing on motherboard near power supply plug in.

I would suggest trying to replace the power supply. If that does not fix the issue, i would need to hear more about the computer.

Is the amber light flashing on the monitor?

If so, you should get your power supply checked.

Pover up trouble

sounds like something is drawing down on your 12 volt supply drives or on board regulators. Try it without the drives connectged, and see if you can get the system to boot up(you'll just get a notice that your drives are unavailable, but you'll already know that, right?

got backup for your Dell?
