Re: help with ipod 8gb nano
Turn the switch like you would to lock it if you were done using it (switch to the right), so it will be locked. Then, move the switch to the left were the orange is showing on to right to unlock it. Hold down the pause button untill your ipod shuts off (about five seconds). Then when you turn your ipod back on, it will be unlocked for you to use.

try to reset it by turning off and on the lock slider then pressing the centre button and menu at the same time til the apple logo appears, allow it to boot up again (you will not lose current content) hopefully this will sort ot out, good luck
First make sure that your iPod’s hold button isn’t on. This is the little switch at the top left corner of the iPod video that you can move to “lock” the iPod’s buttons. If this is on, you’ll see a little orange area at the top of the iPod nano and a lock icon on the iPod’s screen. If you see either of these, move the switch back and see if this fixes the problem.
If the hold switch wasn’t the problem do the following:
Move the hold switch to the on position and then move it back to off.
Hold down the Menu button on the clickwheel and the center button at the same time. Hold these together for 6-10 seconds. This should restart the iPod nano. You’ll know the iPod is restarting when the screen changes and the Apple logo appears.
If this doesn’t work at first, you should repeat step 4
OOPS, try this: connect it to your computer and click reset when your ipod nano comes
up on itunes. you should click on the ipod name in the left side of
your screen (lwhere the itunes library and store icons are located)
and there should be a button that says restore or reset your ipod to
origional settings. it will erase all passwords. Let me know if this helps
First make sure your hold switch isn't on. It's on the top or bottom and slides
back and forth. It needs to be switched to the left. Once it is to the
left, here's how you reset:
You can reset your ipod by holding down the menu and select (round
button in the center) buttons down for at least 10 seconds. You'll see
an apple logo flash, that's when you stop pressing the buttons. It will
shut off, then back on.
