Set up your console the way you would like to play Make sure your TV is on the right channel Make sure your system is in Standby mode Hold down the power button for 2 beeps (it will turn on and then off) Turn on your console and everything should work normally
These newer game console (PS3 in particular) don't like to be changed from one TV\Monitor to another. I changed mine several times before I had problems with it. I guess, it was once I hooked it up to an HD TV\Monitor that it didn't want to display on a Non-HD TV\Monitor. The way I fixed it was by resetting\restoring it to original settings. WARNING: This will most likely wipe-out all saved games, demos, & etc. Restoring your PS3 to original settings. This is how it's done: Turn off PS3, Unplug PS3, Wait a couple minutes and re-insert plug, Push & hold-down power button until you hear 4 beeps (1,1,2) then let off the power. It should show you a page with restoring options, or a prompt of YES or NO of wanting to enter the Restore Options Page. Choose the one that you would like to do. See MADHATTER COMPUTERS. or the previous owner of the ps3 had the settings on the system on HD settings and now the Non-HD TV cannot recognize the signal. In order to change the settings you have to find someone with an HD TV and switch the output settings from HD to AVI
Sometimes if you have that HD thing it changes the way it shows on different tvs. When that happened to mine I just held the power button until it beeped three times, it helped me maybe you'd like to try it out
this may be due to the fact that your ps3 will be set up to hd. go into video settings when you switch it on and this should solve the problem. i had similar problems and bought a hdtv until someone pointed this out to me. however once you have experienced ps3 in hd you will not go back!!! hope this helps
If you originally set up the PS3 with A,V cables it won't work on HDMI even if you set it up to and visa versa. There is a work around but you will have to call tech support. Here is a link at Sony's PS3 tech support that may help also. http://playstation.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/playstation.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=263
You have to reset the console by holding down the power button on the console itself until the light changes from red to green and back to red again, after that make sure you have the composite cables ( red white and yellow ) plugged into their correct slots . Then check to make sure the tv is on the video channel. And lastly , this is the part that got me, make sure the cable that plugs into the back of the ps3 is in there securely, it shouldnt be loose or anything. Thats what fixed it for me.
