Have you tried to connect to the computer with the camera? Many camera protocols are supported in the operating system.

Windows XP CD cannot be detected in Dell Optiplex gx260

Your optical drive might be dirty or bad. Try an official Dell disk to see if it will read it, especially a Dell drivers and Utilities disk. Also try a boot flash drive or boot floppy(since your system is a older) to get the system up. If your system comes up any of those ways, I would try a disk cleaner. If that doesn't help, then you probably have a bad cd drive. You could also look in bios setup to make sure the bios is showing your cd drive. It should list it there somewhere. Probably on the first page.

HOW DO YOU INSTALL A SECOND OS ON A SLAVE DRIVE. I AM RUNNING WINDOWS XP HOME EDITION. I WANT TO INSTALL WINDOWS 98 SECOND EDITION ON A SLAVE DRIVE DISC. SOME PROGRAMS I HAVE WILL NOT WORK ON XP.

You cannot install 98 directly on your system slave drive, but there is a way to install it.

1) disconnect your primary drive
2) make your slave drive as primary.
3) install 98
4) Connect your actual primary drive again and start your system

XP records your mac id of your motherboard and 98 does not records, the other way is, you can install both the OPS on your one primary drive by creating different partitions, you will need to full format your drive first.

1) Full format your primary drive.
2) Create partitions.
3) Install 98.
4) Install XP in different drive of your same hard disk

You will be able to see both your OPS when you start your system.

Install Xp From Dos

If XP will not install from the CD or if you have a new drive with no operating system onit yet try these:

Install Windows XP from the hard drive with Windows 98 already installed:

Boot Windows 98
Insert the XP CD into your CD reader
Explore Windows XP through My Computer
Copy i386 folder to C:\
Go into C:\i386 folder and double click on winnt32.exe to launch the setup from the hard drive

Install Windows XP from DOS (ie. no OS on a new hard drive):

Boot with a Windows 98 Start Up disk
Insert the Windows 98 CD into the CD reader
Run smartdrv.exe from the Win98 directory on the windows 98 CD (file caching)
Type cd.. to back up to the root directory
Insert Windows XP CD into the CD reader
Copy the i386 folder to C:\
Go into C:\i386 folder on C: and type winnt.exe to launch the setup from the hard drive.

Win xp instalation

Make a windows 98 startup disk by downloading it from here http://ru.dod.net/ben/boot98.exe . Once you haver done that turn off the acerpower insert the disk and turn it on (make sure its set to boot from floppy disks in bios setup) Choose the option start computer with cd rom support. Now after about 1 minute youy should see a:\. Type in a:\fdisk and then choose yes and then create a partiossion using the prompts given . Once you have done that and its finished it should say you must restart this computer so restart it. Then boot from the floppy disk again and when it coms to a: type FORMAT C: and then press y. Once its done take the floppy disk put and restart your computer with the windows xp disk in and it should start installling windows xp.

IBM Netvista 6059 - Can't upgrade to windows XP

Right well XP Pro really MUST be formatted with NTFS only... I suggest you get a third party partitioning program like Partition magic and completely remove the partition & redo it all again & this time Format NTFS. Or if ya have a WIN98 boot disk, and ya can use FDISK, Delete ALL partitions, and remake them again, using all the disk space, then format as NTFS, then proceed as below Then using your windows XP PRO setup Disk, start the install ...then when asked about where you want the install located, select C & REFORMAT it AGAIN with the windows setup using again NTFS file system... this should finish & then the Install should "see" your entire hard drive and format it accordingly and then when finished you can proceede to install XP.
