Touchpad quit working for tapping

check for your trackpad settings mainly in the system tray icon on the bottom right corner and then right click the trackpad icon and make sure that tap to click is enabled.
if the icon is not there in your icon tray then look for it in the control panel and enable the tap to click option...
hope this helps

How can deactivate the pad?i dont want to click with a double touch...thanks

To turn the TouchPad on/off, quickly double-tap the TouchPad off indicator (the yellow LED) at the left top corner. If the touchpad is disabled it is indicated by a yellow LED on upper left corner of the touchpad and when the TouchPad is active, the light is off.
This would disable the touchpad completely. Also, if you wish to disable just the double-click through double-tap, you can do this by going to the mouse/touchpad options from the control panel.

Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya!

Contact Acer (http://secure2.tx.acer.com/FixMyAcer3/FixMyAcer.aspx) that link will ask for your s/n and should give you a number to call the support and have them send the unit in. Im sorry this happend to you but Acer knows about this prob and hopefully will ship you a new mouse...at which ask on here and I would love to help you replace the mouse.

My touchpad will not respond when I tap it anymore. I have to use the left button. I used to be able to tap or double tap the touchpad and it would act like the left mouse button. All of a sudden it...

On the bottom bar by the clock, if your computer is newer there should be a small icon that controls your mouse. Simply right click on it and check the box "tap to click" or similar. Hope this helps!

Toshiba notebook touchpad tap doesnt work

Goto 'Control Panel - Mouse - Device Settings, Highlight the device in the list and then click settings. It Might just be that it needs re-configuring. Devices like this tend to loose there configuration due to being used so much and of course the ammount of pressure put on them. There is alot you can reset here. The touch pad does alot more than you think, We just dont bother to look at the settings because we are too busy looking at the screen, and rightly so. Im not saying this will rectify the problem but its worth a try.

Go to acer website and download that model manual, make sure you have ADOBE READER on this machine..If your pointer is not working then you need to download the touchpad driver or if you are using a mouse then it may be a bad one.

"sticky" mouse on compaq laptop

Unless your left mouse button has been severely damaged, it is unlikely that a loose button is the cause of your problem. More likely, it is your touchpad. Chances are your touchpad is set to click when tapped. Oversensitive touchpads can click randomly when you're dragging your finger across the touchpad.

To test this, position your cursor over a link (or other button) but don't press the left mouse button. Instead, lightly tap the touchpad itself. If the link or button is clicked, go to your Control Panel and adjust the Mouse options so your touchpad no longer clicks when tapped. It's usually a setting titled "tap to click" or something along those lines.

Touch pad not working correctly

If u are having Synaptics Driver....then
check that Tapping is enabled...

follow steps to know that:
Open Control Panel..
Now Open Mouse
Now click on tab "Device Settings"
then Click on "Settings"
a new window popups
Click on "Tapping" which is listed on the corner of the window
Now after clicking on it...on the right...check that there is "Tapping Enabled or not"
if not...click on that White box...
and Apply
then ok
Done :)
