Difference between JVC AV-32F703 and AV-32F704?

Anyone know the difference between the JVC AV-32F703 and AV-32F704? I have a bad picture tube in the 703 and can get a 704 with a good picture tube but that may need power supply repair. Hopeing to swap parts from 703 to 704. Thanks--

Thanks for responding. I decided to take one more crack at this. Originally I found that there was a 4-5Kohm short between the screen grid G2 and G1 probably due to some crud inside the tube. I blew this open with a charged cap. It fixed the problem but only for about 5 minutes then my screen went black again with a 1Kohm short this time. Well I charged a cap again and zapped the crud but this time it must have splattered the focus grid cuz my screen voltage now shot up too high and varied with focus control. I removed the picture tube board/connector and checked for shorts but found nothing within the range of my 10 Megohm meter. I calculated, based on the measure voltage that the short was very high impedance -- > 25 MOhm. Anyhoo, I fiddled with it a bit more and then gave up.

After posting this I got re-inspired to try again. This time I disconnected the feed resistor and filter cap to the screen grid and fired er up. I was hoping that the 6KV focus voltage would self-zap the crud. When I put the circuit back together my screen voltage was close to normal and my picture was back! It's been running for several days now and still working (fingers crossed).

    Thanks for your help.

If the connector at the back of the tube (several wires) is the same, then you should be able to switch the tube if the "horizontal and vertical deflection connectors are also the same. If you are not a tech, you probably don't want to try this, but if the horizontal and vertical deflection connectors are not the same, then you MIGHT be able to cut the 4 wires and interchange the connectors. These wires come from a whole bunch of copper colored wire that is wrappped around the back of the tube. The wires looks like it is not insulated, but it actually is dipped in some sort of "stain-like" insulation very similar to electromagnetic wire. The 4 wires coming from this stained wire are usually white, black, red, and yellow and are usually a little bit bigger than most of the other tv wiring. Sometimes, that all go to the board on one 4 pin connector, whereas sometimes, there will two connectors with two wires each.
If both sets are torn up, then you have nothing to lose by trying. Be very careful about the big red wire coming from out of the glass part of the tube. If you unplug this wire and then touch the glass part of the tube where it was plugged into, you will get a punch of about 12 to 18 thousand volts. It's very low current and a very brief shock, but it feels like you have been hit with a sledge hammer. I have been "hit" once and I promise you, it will never happen again. Take a screw driver and connect a wire to the screwdriver. Connect the other end of the wire to "ground". You should see a bare ground wire wrapped around the tube. Then stick the screwdriver under the flat rubber insulator where the red wire plugs into the tube and you will hear the spark when it discharges. MAKE SURE THE TV IS TURNED OFF BEFORE YOU DO THIS OR YOU WILL BLOW UP THE WORLD! Good luck. Should be a fun project. Just be careful. Keever

Hi. 1/4 screen. Horizontal or vertical ? Makes an important difference. I need more details, like typenumber f.i. Also, you must be able to carry out repairs on this electronic circuitry. Otherwise it makes no sense talking about components etc.

I have no picture on my JVC AV-27730 tv. Where is the picture tube and can i replace it myself?

Hello
Picture tubes are available at electronic spare part shops. You have to give them the number and type of the picture tube, to which your JVC TV has. Picture tube, along with its Yoke fittings are integrated, and you can replace it by yoursef at home. Be very carfull in handling the picture tube, as they are highly vacumed, and will explde by hard hits. There will be four seating screws on the four corners of the picture tube, and these slots will clearly alaign if the picture tube selected is orginal number. Diamentions of these holes will be different to spherical and flat picture tubes. So you must first aware of the type of picture tube, which the TV has fitted earlier. OK.

I have jvc model number av36f802 qnd the timer light comes on but not the tv. what can i do to fix it

The JVC sets were bad for the vertical deflection ic failure, when this happens the safety shutdown circuits engage preventing damage to the picture tube, this will require a tv technician to fix the problem.

Weight of TV...in order to select proper wall/ceiling mount

Quick solution:
Weigh yourself on a scale. If you can, pick up the TV and step on the scale again. The difference between the two readings is the weight of your TV.
