Question about Dell 922 All-In-One InkJet Printer

What's the best program to use to scan old letters?

We've never used the scanner before and we're trying to scan very old letters as files. How should we do this without using a program that not everyone will have (such as Photoshop)? Also, how much scanning can the 922 handle?

Do you have microsoft office.
if so, There's a little used program in the  directory on your start/programs/microsoft/microsoft office tools called Microsoft office document and microsoft office scanning.
Also, what software came with the printer/scanner. there's usualy a decent one bundled with them. if possible you may be able to scan to pdf. (pdf reader free from adobe)

---
Markbaker, as long as the scanner is installed correctly, then, again, in office or similar programs there should be an option to insert from scanner. click on that and it should bring up the scanner software to complete scan.

Using HP4180 on windows 7. When I scan it saves file on letter size format. How can I crop or change scan size befor saving?

you might need to change the settings on the document/s letters before scanning depending on which program you are using to make this document ?
lift the lid on your scanner lay the photo face down then select scan document/photo it will ask what format you want to scan it then it will ask where you want to save it browse select the file/folder where you want to save it (my pictures) most common

How do i select the destination of a scanned file ie photoshop using epson scanner tx550

Firstly, the best way to get more from the scanner is to use it via an image application which is twain compatible e.g. serif photoplus, photoshop or gimp. Run the program, click file, then either aquire or import depending on the application you are using, the twain will then start the scanner software, use the scanner software as shown in the manual and this will produce the scanned image in e.g. photoshop. Click file on the program and click save as. This will give you the opportunity to save the file either onto the internal hard drive or an external memory stick etc. hope this helps

I need to know how to scan and object and then email it.

THERE ARE NO OF DIFFERENT WAYS TO SCAN
SINCE YOU HAVE'NT MENTIONED THE O/S OR THE TYPE OF PRINTER/SCANNER YOU HAVE
TRY THIS !!
OPEN All Programs , click Accessories , and then click Paint .
Click File , and then click Import From Camera or Scanner
Make any desired setting changes, and then click Scan .
IF YOUR SCANNER IS WORKING THEN IT SHOULD WORK
NOW YOU CAN ATTACH THE SCANNED DOC. USING THE ATTACH FILE OPTION IN YOUR EMAIL AND SEND IT
ALL THE BEST !!!!!

My HP C4480 scanner only returns a black image (on

Did you repaired old drivers? if so first uninstall your products drivers and also its folders from program files, then uninstall "wrong update" and reinstall scanner. sometimes built in scanning modules comes wrong but everything works with original scanning software, use different software to scan and some of them may work perfectlly.

HP Photosmart C4580 wont scan

It seems that scanner glass is not glowing or may be bulb are not moving properly.
you can try these thigs:
1)Turn ON the printer unplug the powe cable from the back of the unit; wait for 30secs; replug the power cable.
2) Try this to check teh funtionality of hardware Load letter or A4, unused plain white paper into the input tray.
  1. Press and hold the Cancel (c01235250.gif ) and the Start Copy Color buttons at the same time.
  2. Release both buttons. The self-test page prints.
3) Now check if its copying or not?
It will work fine(if your printer scanner glass is fine)

You can also try scanning from computer(if installed)
the location of file would be=
c:\program files\hp\digital imaging\bin
here locate for file "hpqscnvw" hit it and try to scan
Best of luck

Not able to scan and print as like copier

When you use a regular copier, it doesn't save, right? It just copies. That's the whole idea behind the Copy program that came with your scanner - for your scanner to operate as a copy machine. What you want is document management software.

Therefore, the very best solution is to download a (free) program that will convert files (Word, Excel, etc.) into PDF files. Click here for a list of such programs.

Suggestion: Never use image files for document management because they don't have any of the necessary features, such as the ability to search the contents of a digital document, the ability to comment, etc. And you want a program that will convert into PDF - try to stay away from other file formats as PDF (Adobe) is the "standard."

Hi,
It could be something to do with the bundled software having a missing or corrupt TWAIN32 file.. But you can Scan using Windows XP itself.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/setup/hwandprograms/printfaxscan.mspx

Scroll down to the Scanning part, and see if that is of any use to you..

Hope this helps
