Hi chschs,

A couple of suggestions, assuming you are running XP:
1. increase your swap file/virtual memory to roughly double your physical memory;
2. defrag your main hard drive;
3. Trim/slim down your startup files (msconfig);
4. select "Adjust for best performance" in your Performance Options (System properties);
5. Verify that you do not have any malwares lurking somewhere.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

PCG-K415B is the correct model number the label is possibly the service tage or something.

Here are the specifications of your laptop
  • Intel Celeron D Processor 345 3.06GHz / 533MHz FSB
  • 512MB DDR SDRAM - Low cost double memory Offer - call for details
  • 40GB Hard Drive
  • DVD Dual Layer Drive - To read DVDs and CDs and write CDs, DVD+, DVD- and large Dual Layer DVD
  • 15.4" XGA xblacklogo.jpg Widescreen TFT Screen
  • ATI Mobility Radeon 345M 64MB shared graphics
  • Integrated wireless 802.11b/g LAN - Call for advice on Wireless networking
  • Integrated 3-in-1 card reader –Memory Stick, Memory Stick Pro, Memory Stick Duo
  • Operating System: Windows XP Home Edition
  • Includes Sony Software Bundle
My guess is that the laptop is around 1 or 1and half year old as the celeron 3.06GHz is a relatively new processor.

GE JVM1640 won't heat

These microwave ovens have a series of door switches. One of yours has gone bad or a plastic finger on your door mechanism that pushes the switches is worn or broken off. They are commonly called NC or NO swithes some ovens have up to 6 of these working together.If you have no expertise in this field consult a repair shop. Please rate me
Comment posted on Jan 12, 2009 there are two types ,normally open and normally closed, NO NC . u have to check continuity on each one and each switch will have a diagram on the side showing its in use position. I hope this has been helpful

Torn/Destroyed Screen

Yes it can be replaced, but will it be feasible? If you have some electronic experience and are planning to do it yourself and purchase a used replacement display or buy a compatible model VAIO for parts that has a good display then I would do it. But if you are going to have to depend on someone else servicing it for you, then you'll probably be able to buy another laptop for less than the price of the parts and labor.
Good luck.

They are supposed to be there.
