Try this: click menu button then go down to settings and click on it. Then go all the way down to USB and change the current setting (either Auto or MSC). Try it now and let me know if it works. Please rate this post. Best, D.

Tip

Copy files even with errors and many more

You might encounter something like "Access Denied", "The file has beentransferred to another location or deleted" or some other errors whilecopying your files.

This is a typical problem to those Windows XP users. So what they do isjust recopy all the files again but they will exclude the one with theerror.

What if you have virus that you are in random folders that can't be moved/copied?
What if your old files that you don't need have random access denied files?
What if and what if?

How to continue copying files and exclude the files with error?
Here's how you do it.

What is xcopy?
Copies files and directory trees.
How to use xcopy?

XCOPY source [destination] [/A | /M] [/D[:date]] [/P] [/S [/E]] [/V] [/W]
[/C] [/I] [/Q] [/F] [/L] [/G] [/H] [/R] [/T] [/U]
[/K] [/N] [/O] [/X] [/Y] [/-Y] [/Z] [/B]
[/EXCLUDE:file1[+file2][+file3]...]

See the REFERENCE below for the detailed meaning

Step 1.
Click Start then click Run...(Or Simply Press Windows key+R)

Step 2.
type "xcopy [source] [destination]"

Sample 1: (For single File ONLY)
xcopy C:/Windows/System32/userint.exe E:/Backup

Sample 2: (For folder including their sub folders)
xcopy C:/Windows E:/BackupWIndows /S
or
xcopy C:/Windows E:/BackupWIndows /E

Sample 3: (For Continue Copying even Error Occurs)
xcopy C:/Windows E:/BackupWIndows /S /C

Sample 4: (For allowing copying encrypted files)
xcopy C:/Windows E:/BackupWIndows /S /G

Note: You can combine the rules/options that you like.

That's it! you now have a way to copy files that are protected, accessdenied, or even those that are encrypted. Hope This tip helps you. ^^

REFERENCE:

What are the use of the options?

source Specifies the file(s) to copy.

destination Specifies the location and/or name of new files.

/A Copies only files with the archive attribute set,
doesn't change the attribute.

/M Copies only files with the archive attribute set,
turns off the archive attribute.

/D:m-d-y Copies files changed on or after the specified date.
If no date is given, copies only those files whose
source time is newer than the destination time.

/EXCLUDE:file1[+file2][+file3]...
Specifies a list of files containing strings. Each string
should be in a separate line in the files. When any of the
strings match any part of the absolute path of the file to be
copied, that file will be excluded from being copied. For
example, specifying a string like obj or .obj will exclude
all files underneath the directory obj or all files with the
.obj extension respectively.

/P Prompts you before creating each destination file.

/S Copies directories and subdirectories except empty ones.

/E Copies directories and subdirectories, including empty ones.
Same as /S /E. May be used to modify /T.

/V Verifies the size of each new file.

/W Prompts you to press a key before copying.

/C Continues copying even if errors occur.

/I If destination does not exist and copying more than one file,
assumes that destination must be a directory.

/Q Does not display file names while copying.

/F Displays full source and destination file names while copying.

/L Displays files that would be copied.

/G Allows the copying of encrypted files to destination that does
not support encryption.

/H Copies hidden and system files also.

/R Overwrites read-only files.

/T Creates directory structure, but does not copy files. Does not
include empty directories or subdirectories. /T /E includes
empty directories and subdirectories.

/U Copies only files that already exist in destination.

/K Copies attributes. Normal Xcopy will reset read-only attributes.

/N Copies using the generated short names.

/O Copies file ownership and ACL information.

/X Copies file audit settings (implies /O).

/Y Suppresses prompting to confirm you want to overwrite an
existing destination file.

/-Y Causes prompting to confirm you want to overwrite an
existing destination file.

/Z Copies networked files in restartable mode.

/B Copies the Symbolic Link itself versus the target of the link.

/J Copies using unbuffered I/O. Recommended for very large files.

The switch /Y may be preset in the COPYCMD environment variable.
This may be overridden with /-Y on the command line.

Access Denied Error on external hardrive

You don't have rights to the folder. Right click the folder --> Select Properties --> Security --> Advanced --> Owner and then change the owner to your user. Here are some instructions from Microsoft for taking ownership. Once you own the folder then you can do whatever you want.

I downloaded the new version of ITunes. I have an external hardrive (Seagate Brand )where the songs were stored and now it is saying it can not locate any of the songs. I have tried to find the file...

Seems like the update when you updated it changed the actual location where it looks for your music. To get all of your songs to match the library click on the advanced menu and select consolidate library. The reason for the black tab is you have mp3's in multiple spots (external drives or different folders) that haven't been added to your main library. If you always want to add songs automatically to your library, go to itunes preferences>advanced and check the Copy files to itunes Music folder when adding to library.

Problems loading OS in Gateway desktop

Normally installing the os on a different mechine, and then putting into another pc dosent work.

If the hardrive is the oringinal drive, which came with the system, and you want to install xp on, you will have to use a dos disk with fdisk on it, delete all partitions on the drive and create a new partition, then start loading windows, it will give you the option to format the drive for nt(ntfs) file system and setup windows.

If you do that and it still gives you protecting files error, you will have to take the side panel of the computer tower, unplug from the mains and take the cmos battery out for about 30 secs, put the battery back in, plug in the mains and reboot the computer, start loading windows again
Hope this helps and post back if you need further assistance.

Sampling rate...

If the file is a non-DRM encrypted WMA file, you can certianly change this. My personal favorite program (free) to use is Media Monkey, but you can use any program. You just convert the file format, and it will give you "Sampling Rate" as an option. You can change the sampling rate to one that is accepted by your mp3 player.
