Count how many times the timer light flashes before it pauses and repeats. The number of flashes will give an error code to diagnose the problem. Confirm the number of flashes is correct because one flash number out will be a completely different problem.

put key in ignition turn key to start position then off then to start then off then start and leave on. count the check engine light flashes. the first number will be a long flash then the numbers after will be short flashes, then a pause and then the next code will flash with the first number a long flash then followed by short flashes. count the flashes. if the first flash is a single flash and the next flash is say 3 quick flashes then this is code 13. these are a 4 number code system like 1013 is the same as a code 13. I hope you understand as its difficult until you get the hang of it. Chrysler has a code at the beginning to indicate codes starting and one at the end to indicated codes ending. and will repeat the cycle 3 times. it maybe easier to get them pulled using a code reader.
Carefully count the number of flashes that occur in each sequence; for instance, it will flash 5 times, pause, and flash 5 times again. Go through several sequences to make sure your count is correct as it will always be the same number of flashes. Here is the owners manual, go to page 37 to find the flash code page and look up your number. Then post that back here for more information on how to proceed.
dodge codes of this era were 2 number codes not single number codes.recheck your codes flashing on the dash,or with what ever tool your using.there should be a flash close together then a short break then more flashes close together then a longer pause before the next code flashes.cont the flashes that are close together that is one number of the code then after the short pause count the next number of flashes this is the second half of the code.then a new code flashes after the long pause.so if the first code flashes once then after short pause it flashes twice this is a code 12.then a new code flashes after the longer flash, but always a 2 number code.also be aware that dodge uses a code 12 to indicate the start of the code sequence and a code 55 indicates the end of the code sequence.thats why its better to use a scan tool to see what codes are in the computer as sometimes a flash is missed or not counted.
