Does the product box/or disc say that it is compatible with your XP op system? If it does,
Please try a 'clean' install.
Please check your list of programs in the control panel (install/uninstall) and if anything has installed, please uninstall it.
Turn off all running programs, including the internet and your virus control.
Reinstall the software.
After the installation is complete, restart your computer and be sure your virus control has restarted.
If this does not work/or the software you received with the modem does not list Windows XP, please go to this site
http://www.huaweidevice.com/worldwide/productFamily.do?method=index&directoryId=2183&treeId=183
Choose which of the two 882 modems you have and click on it to take you to a page that will list the specific downloads available for this modem.
You may find a driver for Windows XP there is you do not have the compatible software.
If so, download it and save it to your desktop, and do a clean install by following the above procedures and clicking on the new driver.
