  • pbousum Mar 08, 2008

    double check??

  • pbousum Mar 08, 2008

it is a 48 inch viking downdraft fitted behind a 6 burner gas desktop

  • pbousum Mar 08, 2008

the vent is independent from the range. when you turn it one it raises out of the counter and drafts at the selected strength. It now does nothing when you press the on button.

  • micromaster

Most likely it is a problem with the fan motor. It suppose to come to have a shorted lines to your range and looks like one of them is missing. The best option is service it to a repairman to check both the oven and the powerto the ventillations...post back

Hey there

kindly check the chimney assembly if there are anything stuck there. if not, check also the connection of the wiring if it is correctly plugged to the assigned voltage.

if i may ask, what exact type of ventilator are you using? because there are already designer types on the market today...

could it possibly the switch itself is faulty? have tried opening the switch housing to determine if there is something wrong with the switch itself.

Downdraft ventilator has stopped working

We have a Viking VIPR101 30" downdraft ventilator. We've learned that the ON-OFF switch on the side of the ventilator can overheat and burn out when it is held down continuously (poor design). Best to push and quickly release it. First time we had the switch professionally replaced--it's modular and very simple to swap out. Next time we fixed it ourselves with switch part # PV300182 from allvikingparts.com. They had replacement guidance on-line. Hope this is useful.

No gas on viking professional. ignitor works downdraft does not

There are solenoids that turn the gas on to a burner. If they're bad it won't supply gas to the burner. There is also a mother board on that model that could also be the problem. When it comes to this brand it's difficult to diagnose without being there. If the downdraft is not working then I would guess that the mother board could be the problem...sorry I couldn't help more.

I would like to put my cook top on an island in the centre of my kitchen how would i vent down thru a crawl space???

Get a downdraft cook top and drill a hole. Then run the piping to the outside wall of the house and drill again and run the piping thru to the outside. They make outside wall vents like dryer vents only bigger to accommodate the bigger vent pipe. Happy crawling. It will look and work great if you get a good stove. Do your research.

It's fixable, but it is easier for them to just sell you the whole expensive part. See the problem and solution at:

Does stove-top need downdraft if microwave has oven-hood combo?

We have a stove with no downdraft, and a microwave with a hood above it. It works just fine. I expect you could keep your downdraft and put a microwave without a hood above it, and that would also work. I don't think, however, you can buy an above the range mocrowave oven, that slides in on brackets, which will not have a hood.
