Question about Sony Grand WEGA KF50WE610 50" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

1 Answer

Picture Quality The referenced model we own was manufactured in June 2004. It has flawlessly for about 3 1/2 years. Over the four to six months it has developed an off and on problem with the color. At times the set functions normally with a good picture and good other times there is a dominant blue hue over the entire picture as well as occasional vertical (to to bottom) mirroring or ghosting of images. We thought at first this was a weather issue as we have satellite, but it also happens in when there are no weather issues, e.g., electrical, rain or snow storms. Grant in Atlanta

I have discovered the same problem with a greenish/blueish hue and the shadowing of any text that is on the screen.  My Grand Wega 50" was purchased in May 2004.  Almost 4 years old.  Any help would be great.  I am running Bell expressvu.

I need a projection lamp on a rear projector Sony TV model # KV-13FM13

Hi HG Allen,
Search Amazon or Google with your model name and the word Lamp replacement. You will find some lamps listed as "OE" which means it fits like original equipment (lamp) but it's an aftermarket lamp and is cheaper in price and quality. These lamps most of the time do not last beyond 3 months and the light output is weak so you picture is noticeably dimmer.
If you find an "OEM" listing and it says "Philips" or "Osram" then those are the quality lamps that are quality made and will last and your tv picture will be brighter like it was new again.. I hope this helps you.

I would definitely exchange it for another if it's still under warranty. If your having all these problems within the first six months, chances are you just got a lemon and the problems will persist in the future. You might consider upgrading to a better brand name. LG (Lucky Goldstar) is a
South Korean company that manufactures larger appliances, refridgerators, washers and dryers etc. Just a thought, another LG will probably do ya fine though, I would certainly exchange this one out if possible.
Good luck

I'm sorry to say that those lines or interference are cause by a hardware failure and no adjustment can correct it.
If your TV is only 6 months old, still cover under manufacturers warranty. Call the manufacturers and ask them how to go about this repair and hopefully they will send you to an authorized service centre.
Hope this helps.
