Question about Audiovox VE920 9" ULTRA-SLIM DROP-DOWN LCD TV WITH DVD&SPEAKERPHONE Television

1 Answer

VE920 on powerup will not detect a cable signal stuck in air mode

When first plugged in according to mannual the unit should go into a 'scan' mode to detect type of signal air or cable. My unit does not seem to do this, seems stuck in air mode. Hence only getting channels 2-13 while plugged into cable. How do I get the unit to auto program and detect a cable signal? Is there some sort of autoprogram button that I can select cable or air??

Thanks, could not get the menu button to work off the remote, but the menu button on the actual unit did get me into some interesting menus.. one of which let me choose 'cable' or 'c'.

    Thanks

In your menu from your remote you should be able to find a search mode that you can manually select. at that point you should be able to select source and start a search.

Plugged in, cable connected, turned on, says "No Signal"

OTA signal? Check your antenna orientation and if there are any tall objects that would interfere with the signal. (See antennaweb.org or tvfool.com for signal directions and distance to the station. antennaweb assumes an external antenna and is very conservative with station information.) Scan for channels with Menu > > (right arrow twice) up or down to AutoScan and hit enter. Use add channels to include stations with the antenna in a new direction.

If you are using the built-in antenna, you may not get digital signals. Try an external antenna (see above sites). Digital signals are enough or zero.

This TV doesn't have a cable tuner so a set top box would be needed for cable stations, check the box directions for the station you need to tune the TV to access the signal.

I hope this helps.

Check the antenna Coaxial cable pull out and plug back in. If you get no signal the cable may be defective.

Bad news if you see burned parts the board is a gonner. SMD and very difficult to repair. most time a replacement is the only repair. The board you are looking at is probably the inverter board. the inverter drives the back lights on the lcd display. Some of these boards can be costly. on some of these sets they use combo boards * ie signal and digital and power supply all on one board

You can try to unplug it then plug it in and try eject. If that don't work the it will have to be disasembled to remove the disk. it could be that the disk is not spinning up and in that case it will have to be repaired
