Try this, as posted on www.videohelp.com:

Put in DVD.
When you get region whine message press: [menu] [1] [play]
Disc should play, but with region message still up.
Press Marker then Clear. Message is now gone.

You can go to the menu for setup, or keep watching the movie.

Does anyone know lock code for vcr/dvd player: Toshiba SD-V394SU? I want to play a region 2 dvd. Appreciate if someone could help. Joe B.

When a DVD disc is created, it is encoded with a "Region number." The disc will only play on DVD players with the same Region number - for instance, a Region 3 disc won't play on a Region 1 player.
Region 1: U.S. and U.S. Territories, Canada
Region 2: Japan, Western Europe, Middle East, South Africa
Region 3: South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Southeast and East Asia Region 4: New Zealand, Australia, Pacific Islands, Mexico, Central/
South America
Region 5: Russia and the former Soviet Union, Africa, Indian
subcontinent, North Korea Region 6: China
The only way to get around the region codes, is to rip a DVD to your computer and remove the region code. Then burn the DVD to a DVD R. There are programs around on the net, but I'm not sure it is legal in all countries.
Google for the programs.
A DVD player sometimes allows you to change the region code once. But it not even would allow you to switch back after you changed it once.

There are computer programs capable of remove the region code from a DVD, but the result should be burned on a new DVD. Most players don't allow a change in the region code more than once. So on your player nothing to hack. Sorry

For all other options, please use Google.

I cant play my moovies it will say region error how come?

Some DVD players have region coding only allowing discs to play specific to that country (or region) only . If you lucky you might find region hack online to re-program your player - just type <model number> region hack into Google. The alternative is internal modification which can be expensive - buying a region-free player would be cheaper.

Unlocking

The site I have used for the last few years is called VideoHelp.com, and they have a section of the site dedicated to DVD HACKS . It's a simple search engine, just take down the name and model# of your DVD player and if a hack exists (there are thousands out there) then just print out the instructions, take your remote control and program your DVD player. And there you have it. You can now play disks from Japan, England, Australia, anywhere you want!
Here's the best part.
You don't need an expensive player. In fact, the easiest players to unlock are at the cheaper end. I bought a Phillips DVD player (DVP642) for $40 from BestBuy a few years ago, unlocked it in 10 seconds and watched a bunch of British comedy the same day. Yesterday, I upgraded that player to a DVD player with HD capability for the impending HDTV we'll need to buy. I checked out VideoHelp for players on the BestBuy website that had a remote hack available and found this one - a Samsung Progressive-Scan DVD Player with HD Upconversion - Model: DVD-HD860 . It was $89.99 (on sale from $99.99) and then I used the following region hack:
  1. Power on
  2. Open tray
  3. Push the info on remote once (with supplied remote) You will see numbers.
  4. Press 9 for multi-region. keep trying until you see the number 9 appear in upper left corner
  5. Power off
  6. Power on
That was it. A nice new upconvert DVD player that plays any DVD, and it got a great rating on CNET too. All for less than $100 including tax. So, if you do have a DVD player that you'd like to convert, you can try it. The site does WARN that any action you take may invalidate the warranty, so try it at your own risk. All I can say is that I've never had a problem. Best of luck.

Can only play DVDs for one region code.

Most DVDs can only play DVDs from a single region. However, they sometimes allow you to change the region at least one time. Another option is to make your DVD player region free. This is a hack that can be performed. Once you do this, you can play DVDs from any region.
