I had the same problem where the screen keep saying "preparing". I had tried to switch it on and off, but it didn't work. As there is not a small hole for manually ejecting the disc, I just kept pressing the eject button repeatedly (about 25 times) and the drawer opened. Grab the disc as soon as it opens, as the drawer will immediately try to shut itself again. If this does not work, then trying repeatedly pressing the power button to try to get it to reset. Then repeatedly try the eject button again. This sounds mad, but it worked for me.

Ok
Look at the door of your DVD shutter. There might be very small hole. This is an emergency Shutter open point. Make off your player, insert a long pin inside the hole, press it gently, you will notice that the shutter is openning, pull it out side, and take off your data DVD from the tray.

Thanks
Iqbal

Quite simple, I have an LG video recorder, and a Wharfdale dvdr24hd160f, both in line to my TV. Is there any way I can record old family video tapes to DVD, without interfering with my current wiring...

Hi, You should be able to depending on how your DVD is connected up. If it is hooked up using a yellow, red, and white lead (RCA. Common lead with a pin in centre of plug) there it should be no problem. On your TV there should be a set of sockets of the same colour. These should say monitor out, our output. Basically this set of plugs will send the picture and sound of whatever you are watching on the TV. If you connect from your monitor output sockets on your TV, to the input on your DVD recorder (will likely say AV1, or input on your DVD recorder) then it should record your video. You just have to make sure that the picture on your TV is the video you are playing, and the channel that is set to record on your DVD recorder is AV1. (You may also have an input at the front of your DVD recorder that says AV2 or input 2.) As long as you set your DVD to record the input set of sockets you plugged your cable into it should work. This set up will not alter the operation of your DVD or TV.

When I put a blank dvd+rw or dvd+r in it asks me to format,I say ok and then it asks the same question again,if I say no it ejects the disc.Hence i cant record anything.

It sounds like the discs are not compatible with your dvd recorder...if they're 16x, then try 8x and see if that helps. Also see if you can find a list of compatible discs in the manual or online. I hope this helps.

DVD will not finalize or play after recording

Try using it on a PC/Mac DVD drive, they can usually read open session discs and if so you can save the data and re-burn it to a fresh disc.

Why can't l play DVD's recorded on this recorder on other player

DVDs come in different versions.
Try using the -R DVDs. Once your DVD recorder finalizes the DVDs they should on any DVD palyer.

Check your manual to find out the finalizing method for your DVD recorder.

I hope this solution is helpful. Let me know.

Dvd will not eject

This used to happen periodically with my unit. I would just unplug it and then whatever was stuck would pop out.

LG RH289H DVD Recorder Unknown Disc. Please check disc again.

I have had the same problem a few times. All I do is eject and re-insert the disk until it recognises it, this seemed to work for me

Goodmans home dvd recorder

Make sure the DVD has been finalised. When you finalise a DVD the recorder puts all the disc content information at the start of the disc so that any device you put it into can find out what is on the disc without scanning through 4.7 Gigs of data, (which would take so long it would drive people mad everytime they put a disc into anything). Because the table has not been written the PC cannot see what is on the Disc.
Another possible answer: some makes, Orion for one have a Virtual Record mode that it was not possible to play in any other device.
And Orion do make products for Goodmans.
Most likely the first answer though.

Hi Barb22,

Sounds faulty to me, I'd take it back to the store and get a replacement. However, I guess you want that DVD out first? I'm not sure this will work because the units logic board is mostly likely faulty and will prevent the DVD transport from opening. Unplug the unit and press the eject button, keeping it pressed plug the unit back in. If the unit does not come on then press the power button too. If the unit starts to open release the button immediately. It's unlikely to eject, but you might get lucky.

Sorry I can't be of much further help.

Regards,

Spare head 2

Repairing disc message won't go & DVD disc won't eject

By pressing the Power button for >10 seconds you can force the unit to turn off. Immediately as the unit does, press the disk eject button and the defective DVD can be removed. Don't put it back in, or the problem may repeat!
