More than likely just the power supply would be damaged, it should blow before the rest of the unit gets damaged. Maybe even just the fuse inside where the power lead connects is blown.

I plugged my max 110 V Oliso iron into our house's only 220 V outlet. Smoke is being emitted and it is unusable (The iron, not iron). Can someone please tell me how to fix it?

are you saying that the iron works with 110 volts and you plugged it in a 220 volts outlet??? if so then the voltage is to high for the iron (luckily it didn't get burnt) but all you need to do is plug it into a 110 volt outlet

110 volts, rated TV was plugged into 220 volts power supply. Now when it was plugged into an 110 volts supply its not getting on? What could be the causes? and please suggest solutions.

It probably fried the power supply in the TV unfortunately. If the electrical surge stopped there then it should just be a matter of swapping out the power supply. Provide a make and model of television and I will see if I can help find one with instructions on how to change it.

I accidentally plugged computer avr 220v to 110 could it affect my power supply

If the computer power supply is a 240 volt unit and you plugged into 110 volt mains the the computer should be OK.
Some power supplies have a voltage selection switch on the back of the power supply switch to 110 volts and it should work.
If the power supply is 110 volts and you plug it into a 240 volts mains then you will damage the power supply and possibly the computer as well.

My drier 110 volts was accidentally plugged to 220

The least of your problems would be a burnt out relay or internal switch which can be replaced at reasonable expense. In a worst case the motor or heating element "fried" and it'll be cheaper to buy a new dryer.
BTW 110 and 220 plugs are entirely different and a 110 plug cannot be plugged into a 220 outlet.

Plugged a 110 volt kenwood receiver accidentally to 220 volts

Considering 220 and 110 systems have different receptacles, you worked at doing this.
Since it is already inoperable, you may as well remove the housing and inspect the guts. If you see burned traces or boards, don't bother to have it repaired.
If you see a fuse in a clip, you might replace it once, two would be the waste of the second fuse.

Neptune dryer

there is no transformer in the dryer, i am guessing you have a 110 v motor and when you hooked the plug wrong, you could have supplied the motor with 220 v that's why you can smell something burnt.

the heater is 220 volts. regular dryer has dual voltage supply. 110 v and 220 volts.

tnx 4 using fixya,

HP laptops power supply

Well, as a rule for electronics:
The United States and Canada use 110-volt electricity.
Most countries outside North America use 220-volt electricity.
Unless your appliance is dual voltage, you need to use a "converter" or a "transformer" to change the 220-volt electricity into 110-volt electricity in order to use a 110-volt appliance.
If your appliance is dual voltage, you can switch it to work on 220-volts, without a transformer or converter.

HOWEVER

Desktop units have a selector switch for 110 / 220 volts., which is done away with in the case of laptop one's which sense the input voltage and regulate accordingly.

I think your main concern is just that you have an adapter for the plug to go into the wall outlet.

Hope that helps :)

No power no sound

oh noh!!! I suggest you should an AVR (automatic voltage regulator), these will help to control the flactuations of power. try also check the power supply (its either 110 or 220 volts), just make sure it is compatible to your default power supply.

To Arpi > PS2 U.S.A. version (110 volts) SCPH-39001 charged to 220 volts - is it burnt already?

This would have damaged the power supply, most likely not harming any other parts. Fuses do not smell when they blow so something else was damaged. I would suggest looking for a similar revision that has a blown laser or other trouble and use the power supply from that.
