Wharfedale slm01 mp3 problem

I have a wharfedale slm01 mp3 player when you switch it on comes up with the message "file system error"

I have done the usual resets etc - but no joy.

Any idea where i can locate the firmware for it? It is not on the disk that came with it.

    Hi

I've just purchased the Wharfedale MP3 SLM01 and get the same error "unknown format" or sometimes "not validated" message. I've been messing around for hours I thought it was my system, but in a way I'm relived to find its the product.

I have actually managed to get 3 CD's loaded successfully but the rest are just showing the error.

I did actually take the first one back to Argos and got a replacement but this one is just the same.

When i statr my slm01 mp3 player a system error appears on the screen. I can also not access any files and when trying to sync media files to the device the computer is not recognizing he device and so will not allow me to start syncronising.

For some reason I cannot find my music directory. I plug the device in my computer and then click on removable disk and there's is no music folder there. There is music on there, because I synchronised it on Windows Media Player. But, for some reason, I cannot delete the files that are on there nor put any on. Why is this? Is there something I'm missing?

Also, the little disc that I had when I brought it wasn't recognised by Windows Vista.

Format it. I had this problem and it fixed it straight away.

Power it on,
Go to 8) Setup
Scroll to Sys Tools
Reset First, then select Format
Do a Complete format and thats it.

You will lose all your music and pictures but unfortunatelt thats the only fix for it.

I cannot connect my Wharfedale SLM01

If you are using a USB port on the front of your computer, try one on the back. Also, leave it overnight to charge, then try again. Rebooting your computer might also fix it.

File system error

File system error is almost impossible fix - you can try updating the firmware (if you actually have an iLo, it will be impossible to update the firmware - manufacturer no longer supports)

a solution would be to buy a 3.5 to 2.5mm converter. Then you can use your decent earphones with the wharfedale
