I totally disagree. That laptop has Inte PRO/Wireless 2200BG Wi-Fi, a better integrated wifi system than anything you can find in a USB device. The software package sometimes (well, often, actually) gets corrupted by a bad wifi connection. So just fix it:
Go to Start Menu/Settings/Control Panels/Add-Remove Software. Remove the intel wireless 2200 software. Confirm, Yes
Next, re-install the Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG Wi-Fi software. It is available from Acer, at the http://global.acer.com website, under the support/downloads section for your laptop.
If that site is unavailable as it often is (I just checked, it is down at this moment) you can also download the most current package direct from intel (http://www.intel.com). Use the nomenclature above to guide you to the correct download (be sure to choose a Vista compatible package, assuming you have that loaded)
