You may be out of luck. Apparently, Altec is no longer supporting this product (2002) and the user's manual provides no specifications for the power supply. You can try asking them at 1-800-ALTEC-88 (1-800-258-3288) or Email: csupport@alteclansing.com

The manual is at http://audio.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/altec_lansing_technologies/xa3051.html

I have a Philips Freevents X57 Laptop which has a motherboard problem. When I switch the laptop "ON" these are the following symtoms: A) Power Charger in AC/DC Socket without battery: Power...

Possibilities:
* leaking/bad capacitors on the motherboard, not doing their job, i.e., causing voltage fluctuations that the motherboard cannot tolerate;
* dead disk-drive -- cannot boot Windows from a "dead" drive;
* dead CPU -- cannot do anything other than power on/off;
* failing power-supply -- not supplying correct voltages to the motherboard.

Take the laptop to a qualified computer technician, for professional trouble-shooting, and probably a replacement of the motherboard. But, it might be less expensive to "salvage" the disk-drive (and your files) from the laptop, and to buy a new laptop, than it would be to buy a replacement motherboard, and pay for installation.

I NEED THIS PART FOR MY HARMAN KARDAN SOUND STICK II SPEAKER 700-0036-001 Power supply adapter AND 500-0180-001 Power cord CAN YOU HELP ME?

Normally you can buy a universal power adapter that let you set the proper voltage, plug size and polarity, go and buy one and try or take the part to the shop to see if fits before buying, also you can go to a electronics repair shop so they can make you one, normally power adapter for this hardware is made in china and very difficult to find a proper replacement original part

I brought pair of Dell A215 speakers w/o power source. I tried several power supply cords that fit the outlet. They won't work. Do I need to buy a SPECIFIC power supply cord? Is there such a thing as a...

Don't just randomly plug power supply's in; check and see what it needs.
It should be printed somewhere on the device how many DC volts it needs.
If it needs 9volts, get a 9volt power supply.
If you don't have a power supply the same size as it needs, order one off of Amazon, or eBay.

Need to buy a power supply

As far as I know, this needs a pretty standard 1-amp 12 volt adapter. Radio Shack is probably your best place to find one since they have a supply with interchangeable tips. That way you can find the one that matches the speaker power jack. (If you're not in the US, you can check local electronic supply stores for a suitable replacement.)

Need a replacement power cord for harmon kardon sound sticks II

its not that expensive for a power cord. they are running on 12v so you go and buy a 12v power supply with a jack that fits the speakers or you can just find a power supply at home if you have one that is 12v

Altec Lansing In Motion Power Supply

Look on your power supply for the output voltage and amperage. It should say something like "Output: 9V DC 500mA". With this information you only need to get one with the same plug.
When you do please post the answer because I have the MLI699 speakers and don't know what power supply is needed.

Humming in woofer

A wiring diagram could be difficult if not impossible to find but you should'nt need one anyway.

You're correct in saying it's most likely a filter cap in the power supply, of which would be a larger electrolytic cap that may even display signs of being faulty. Look for leakage of crusty brown stuff on the end where the rubber seal and leads are, or possibly the other end, shrunken plastic skin, bulging or other signs of over heating. Replace any you find that have visual signs of failure.

Sometimes you cannot tell by looking if a cap is bad but it would'nt cost that much to replace the larger ones in there anyway. Open up the unit, write down the electrolytic cap values
you find, go buy replacements and replace em.

You're hearing 60 cycle hum so the filter(s) you need to replace will be quite large physically and have a fairly high micro farad value....such as 1000, 1500 or 2200.

When buying replacements, get as close to the micro farad rating as possible and buy at least the same voltage rating, or higher. Be sure to solder them in correctly, there is a negative and positive lead and you dont want to get those reversed or....
BOOM!
