How do I set exposure for slow-sync flash with my D-80 and SB-600?
I know I have to set slow-sync on the camera and i-TTL on the speedlight, but do I leave the camera in P and let it meter itself, or do I go for aperture priority to cntrol depth of field....am confused.
Any help gratefully received.

The nice thing about digital is that it essentially costs you nothing but time to experiment with different settings and see what you like best and what works and what doesn't.
One thing I use a lot is the accessory cord that lets you get a flash off the camera while still having one on the camera. A little more money but giving more flexibility is the Pocket Wizard Plus digital remote control units. I can activate my flash from over 200 feet away (haven't tried it further). I have the D300 and SB800 with bounce card as my basic portable rig for candid shots.
