Kodak Z700 not firing up

Kodak Easyshare Z700 - batteries are fully charged, but the camera switches on and then turns off - the screen for setting the Date and Time briefly shows. Camera doesn't show when connected to the PC via USB cable.

My camera doesn't turn on either. At first it happened slowly,
batteries would last for shorter amounts of time. Eventually it
just wouldn't turn on. I tried to remove the memory card and bend
the battery connectors, but neither worked.

turn on and goes red off

Tried a new battery, bending the connectors and taking out the memory card as suggested - nothing works.

It will turn on but when I try to move it to other settings, it shuts off but does not close down. When I put setting all the way back to off, it does not operate until I then move it to auto again. Once it is on auto, the lens closes up, then opens again. I can't seem to take a picture on any of the SCN settings.

When this first happened to mine, removing the memory card seemed to help. Later nothing.

What seems to work is bending the contacts on the battery compartment to fit tighter. (my camera has had a lot of use)

The older the camera gets, the more it seems to require very fresh batteries.

I have the same problem. Removing the memory card and then starting up seemed to fix it; the camera would then start up ok even with the card in.

Guest is right. Clean the contacts, bend the contacts with a small flat head screw driver upwards "GENTLY". This should work. Might have to repeat every couple of months. Forget regular batteries. Use the rechargeable ones. MUST be fully recharged.

I have a Kodak easy share Z700 that shuts down the minute you turn it on. It has fully charged lithium batteries. I have tried all of the solutions that I have read. Love this camera but is of no use now.

If your batteries are old, they may have lost their retaining power. Therefore, even if you recharge them fully, they will drain quickly.
Try using new batteries and let us know if the problem is not solved.

MY KODAK CAMERA WON'T FLASH WHEN IT IS SET ON THAT!

As a first step, make sure the batteries are fully charged and check in the Shooting menu if you have switched the flash to 'off' mode. Then check the shooting mode. In some shooting modes (like landscape), some cameras do not fire the flash. To check if the flash is working properly, change the mode to 'Night Portrait' and try to shoot. This mode is sure to fire the flash if everything is well with the camera. If still the flash is not working, take it to the nearest authorized service center.
