Try reinstalling the os.
there might be file corrupted in the system folder,,,
since the monitor runs on start up , we cannot say that it has a hardware defect...
reinstalling or upgrading your windows will help..

It has not a single thing to do with the OS. Powering up then right off is a sign of failing power HARDWARE. Capacitors and possible MOSFETs on the internal power board are going. Simple to replace them, just have to find equivalent parts. Won't be hard at all for the capacitors, might be a little difficult if you have to replace the MOSFETs. Just do a search on "lcd capacitor replacement". Should show you a bunch of guides on how to do it yourself.

Dual Monitors. #1 works fine. Plug inb #2 and #1 goes to sceeen saver and #2 stays blank.

Both monitors must be plugged in when the computer is started for the second monitor to be detected, and you must configure the second monitor once the computer has started
In windows XP: control panel -> display -> settings tab -> select second display -> check "extend my windows desktop onto this monitor" -> click apply
In windows vista/7: control panel -> adjust screen resolution -> select second display and then under "multiple displays" select "Extend desktop to this display"

When I boot my computer the monitor flashes the Windows XP logo then goes dark and the computer shuts down and then restarts itself and start the process all over again and again

Try starting it in safe mode, F8 during the boot process, this loads a windows shell, once active, run a system restore.

(Programmes - Accessories - System tools - System restore)

Once you are on the logon screen, select Administrator account.
Click on Start and rightl click on My computer, then click properties

Monitor comes on for seconds and then goes black

This may be because the resolution that is set in your user profile when you log on has been changed to a resolution not supported by the monitor. The best way to fix this is by going into Safe Mode (press F8 as the computer starts to load Windows) and change it to a lower resolution once you get logged in. 1024X768 is a pretty safe resolution to start with. Then restart and see if that fixes the issue.

Getting dual monitors to work correctly seems to be a hit or miss affair. In many cases, it's just a matter adding a second video card and monitor and rebooting the computer. In other cases, you need to do some cyber gymnastics to get things working correctly.
The process is the same no matter which version of Windows you are using. First, be sure that your system is working correctly. Boot into safe mode and verify that you have only one video adapter and monitor showing in the Device Manager. If there are more, but you only have one adapter and monitor, you'll need to remove the extras.
Once you're sure that your video setup is working fine, turn off the system and look inside. Remember that you'll need a video card for each monitor that you plan to run under Windows. That means that your system must have a free expansion slot for each one. You may find that you have problems with IRQ sharing or DMA channels, depending on your motherboard and video card, although many video cards seem relatively intolerant of IRQ and DMA conflicts. Install your video card in the appropriate slot, and then connect the monitor.
Restart your system. If all goes well, your computer will boot the same way that it always has…the second monitor will still be dark. If your system prompts you to login, do it. You may need to install drivers for your second video card, depending upon whether or not Windows has built in drivers or not. Just follow the on-screen instructions.
Once the drivers are installed, check the Device Manager to make sure that the display adapter is properly detected:
e14df7f.gif Once the drivers are installed, open the Display Properties window. In the settings screen, you should see something like this:

838d51e.gif You'll see that a second display is shown. Click on the grayed out display marked as "2". The window will change slightly to look like this:

d3c979a.gif You can then change the desktop resolution and color depth. Once you've done that, click your mouse on the "Extend my Windows desktop onto this monitor" to enable it. Remember that the resolution, color depth and refresh rates of each monitor adapter combination don't have to be the same. The window should look something like this now:
ad5a047.gif Click on OK and your second monitor should activate itself as an extension of the first:

cf82475.gif 82671cc.gif
You'll find that you can change the relative geometries of the two monitors by moving their respective boxes around in the Settings window.

Please reply to me if that doesnt help!!!

Dell E228WFP Monitor failure

To me, that's an XP driver issue. If the screen turns on at all, then goes dark during XP boot, that's nearly a ringer for drivers.

Out of range on the Hz? Tried booting in safe mode to see if it loads with standard win drivers? That might work. Reset the monitor to default/standard settings and try safe mode is what I would do. Ramp up the resolution/refresh rate from there.

When I press the power button LG displaying chars for 1 second

Had the same problem, turned out it was due to a faulty capacitor on the inverter board, 680uF 25V (105 celsius rated). Simple to fix once you have the unit dismantled and the correct replacement part. Two screws hold the shroud on, but you need to be careful with an (old) credit card levering it off.

Unit is now working fine.
