1) Computer on open the CD drive tray. Turn the computer off leaving the tray open. Unplug the computer from power.
Use a can of compressed air for computers, and clean the drive out.\
Break the plastic lock tab off of the nozzle, of the can of air, attach the plastic straw to the nozzle.
Aim in a slightly downward fashion as you spray air into the optical drive. (CD drive)
You are trying to clean, dust, dirt, etc. out of the inside of the drive, but are mostly trying to clean the laser optical eye, located towards the bottom of the optical drive.
Allow a few minutes for any propellant that came out to dry, then plug the computer back into power.
The CD drive tray will shut automatically.
CD drive tray will not open, and there is no blinking light on the front of the drive?
Trash can it, buy a new one.
An optical drive is a mechanical device. It's 'Life-span' is rated in hours of usage.
A drive that does not respond with a blinking light is beyond it's Life Cycle.
Buying an optical drive is Much cheaper online, than buying from a large chain store locally, IMHO.
