Hello,

Was just browsing the board.
IBM has a PDF somewhere on their site which details the exact disassembly process. I had a screen problem a while back (fixed it once, but it's out again). It is fairly straight forward disassembly, but as always, keep track of/lay out all the parts in an orderly manner as you proceed.
Sorry, don't have the exact site address. It's been a while. Maybe try 'T20 maintenance' once your at the IBM site.

during start up press f12 key then when boot order opens select where you want to boot from . save then exit in to start up . that should do it . :)

Hi,

the default BIOS password for this model is merlin but if that doesn't work you have a hard drive password set and may for lack of a better term be screwed. You can try zero wiping the harddrive from another system assuming you have the right cabling/adapters.

If the Hardrive is locked but the BIOS password works you can also acquire a new hard drive cheaper than a password cracker in most cases.

It is a possible fix, you will need an new inverter for the screen. usually cost 25 to 60 but labor to get someone to replace it is around 125

If it was fixed before without changing any hardware, it was probably a connection problem. Check the connectors on the screen, screen to inverter, and screen to board.

Good afternoon Lewis!
Close to the right rear corner, there is a small black plastic latch that needs to be moved to the rear. That will cause a blue handle to pop out slightly. You grasp that handle and pull. That should release the CD drive and allow for it's removal.
