You must know your motherboard. Download Belark Advisor (freeware) which will tell you exacty what motherboard and all need to nowabout it, plus everything elso you have on your computor, and then go to to the manufacturer's website to find out processors compatible with it. If its Intel, it's a snap.

but please be aware that this processor is an OEM only processor, and cannot be ordered individually; also it can be only permanently fixed to its mount (ball grid array, not pin-grid) and so special equipment is needed to install one. Once in place it cannot be removed (or nearly impossible - see FAQs on

Q: I have an Intel i7-3612QM microprocessor. Can I upgrade it? A: No. Processors like this one are soldered on a board, as a result, upgrading or replacing them is very very difficult)

Theoretically you could because both type of processors have the same socket.
Here is a link with more data about the socket:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGA_775
And here is a list with dual core processors: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Intel_Core_2_microprocessors
Good luck with your upgrade and keep us posted about this with a comment. Thank you for using FixYa

Can i upgrade the processor on my aspire one d250 netbook?

Hello Ian,

yes, you can upgrade it, you just simply put a stronger model of what is currently inside. Just make sure that you do not buy a processor that does not fit in, you mus use the same socket. Also look for the mobile versions, not the pc ones. It is also advisable not to put a processor with the highest TDP - heating, in plain talk, into a notebook, you could encounter reboots due to insufficient ventilation. Apart from that, it is just replacing it like a battery. Just unscrew the bottom and of you go.

Would like to upgrade cpu on my sony vaio vgn-fz285u notebook

The choices are limited, as the series of processors that can be inserted in a mother board is limited. The motherboard will have a socket specification that determines the CPU series that can be used.

Can the acer aspire timelines processor be upgraded from a solo to a duo processor?

i doubt it..now if it was a desktop if would be easy..just purchase a different processor..and a upgraded motherboard in some cases...but for a laptop its a different story..most parts in a laptop/netbook/notebook are built into the motherboard/onboard...so unless you can configure a motherboard to fit into your netbook(which i wouldnt recomend), i dont think you can..

What processor?

Not all processors fit laptops. You shouldn't get a higher powered processor as you would then need to change the power supply as laptops are set to suit themselves.

Getting an intel may stop problems accoring.

Possible upgrades for a Toshiba Satellite A135

With notebook there are not many upgrades available, but if you are using a lot of multi-media it is savvy to increase you memory.

My suggestion is that you look to go up to 2 Gb; you should see a nice different on performances.
