I have a Sone CDP-790 CD player. It plays later tracks perfectly, but
doesn't advance properly on the early tracks (the first three tracks of
a classical CD). Any suggestions?

Many thanks for taking the time to help me. I could only find one rail,
but I have sparingly lubricated it and the driving gears. Its all
pretty clean and I couldn't find any obvious problems, so I'll see how
it goes over the next few weeks.
Again, many thanks.
Mark

The lens assembly in a CD player glides along on a two rail track, kinda like a railroad track except tubular. The lens carriage is moved over this track by a small motor driving a worm gear. (Think long, tubular and spiral). If the rail tracks or the worm gear dry up or have dust accumulating on them, this could be the cause. Normally they have a light gear oil or lithium grease on them to keep them lubricated.
