Question about Whirlpool Calypso GVW9959K Top Load Washer

Washing machine, old one

I bought a new pump for my washer, not the problem! The tub will fill to a certain height and then start pouring out on the floor. What could be my problem and what do you suggest I do to fix it? It is a Whirlpool Estate TAWL650AWO A washing machine. I know, it`s acient, but I am moving to Japan in October and do not want to invest in a new machine. The product name I listed is incorrect, it would not let me continue until I made a choice.....

Water pours out from washer

Most washer i know of have a small hose coming from the base of the tub abd going up to a water pressure switch up in the controls. As the water level rises the pressure inside the tube rises. When the water level gets just right the pressure inside the switch kills the water and starts the motor. So what goes wrong? Trash and sediment such as sand gets into the tubing. Removing the tube from the control and blowing it out in most cases fixes the probo. Note: If you do this you need to pump out any water in the machine before you start another wash cycle. So that the pressure will build once again in the tubing and shut off the washer at the correct fill.

Washer is draining as it's filling -up. Checked all hose there on and no leaks coming from them. Could it be the plastic pump?

This could be a simple matter of drain hose placement. What it sounds like you are experiencing is known as "siphoning". The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r587481-prevent_washer_siphoning

Double check your drain hose placement and the size/height of the standpipe. If you don't have a sufficient air gap, your washer will begin to siphon water from the tub as it fills. The drain pump cannot cause this problem on the fill cycle as it is driven by the drive motor. The drive motor will not engage until the washer is filled and the wash cycle starts.

If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this is helpful.

I have a very old (16 yrs +/-) whirlpool washer that tries to fill with water, but seems to drain straight out. Unfortunately, the first time I noticed the problem, I started a load of wash and left...when...

You probably have a floor drain rather than a drain pipe which is higher than the pump. hold the drain hose up while its filling or make it go up (about as high as half the machine height) before it goes back down to the drain. (At least to check it out) The pumps shouldn't siphon out but some do.

When tub filling, it drains out at the same time.

The outlet of the drain hose must be higher than the water level inside the tub--normally the pump inside removes the water when needed. Get a plumber to install a proper height drain pipe for you.

I m using maytag pav2200agw after fill the water washer is working fine but during the spin dry cycle water pump does pump out the water and start spin but the tub is not moving its not working propperly...

I WISH I HAD SOME ANSWERS ON THIS ONE, BUT IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR PUMP MIGHT NEED REPLACING. HOW OLD IS YOUR WASHER? IT WOULD BE CHEAPER TO BUY A NEW WASHER. BUT IF IT IS THE PUMP, THEN YOU CAN BUY A NEW PUMP FROM WHERE YOU BOUGHT YOUR WASHER. GOOD LUCK.

Washer tub won't fill up with water

Sounds like you may have a siphoning problem. Have you checked the drain line by pulling it up out of the standpipe while the washer was filling? You may have a vacuum causing the water to constantly siphon. The following link explains this:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r587481-prevent_washer_siphoning

Having the drain hose high enough may not be the problem. You could very well have the hose stuffed in the standpipe too tight, or placed in the pipe too far. Please doublecheck and let me know if you need further assistance.

In addtion, please post the make and model number of your washer for better advice.

Your exit hose behind the machine has to go over a certain height before it goes into your wall standpipe or sink. The height is marked behind your machine, approx 3 feet above ground level. The hose should put about 3 or 4 inches into the standpipe, & not fitted airtight.

Possible u didnt connect well after your pump job or ........

set the washer to fill. open the lid and depress the lid switch. might be in the rear of the cover or on the side. watch to see where the water level comes to. once the tub is filled, the water height switch operates the timer motor for the different cycles.
